Take a virtual tour of the Graham family homeplace at the Billy Graham Library and see where Billy Graham grew up. The brick Colonial, built in 1927, was taken apart and reassembled, brick by brick, board by board…twice. It’s now beautifully restored for the public to enjoy. Come tour the home for yourself. I’m standing on the front porch of Billy
Graham’s childhood home in Charlotte
North Carolina here at the Billy Graham
library we want to give you a quick tour
of this beautiful house it’s a two-story
brick colonial that was built back in
1927 and if you can believe it at that
time it cost Billy Graham’s father about
nine thousand dollars to build pretty
amazing when you think about what things
look like today hey Ralph hello we’re
gonna give you a quick walkthrough and
you can expect to be greeted by one of
our wonderful library volunteers they’re
here to answer your questions and show
you some of the highlights of this home
your first stop will probably be the
beautiful dining room right there you’ll
see it when you walk in on your left
there are a couple of original items in
there from Billy Graham’s family you’ll
also see family photos all over the
walls that’s one of my favorite parts
you could spend an afternoon just
looking at these photos which tell the
story of Billy Graham which is
ultimately the story of the gospel of
Jesus Christ so one of the best things
about this home is that when the family
moved in here when Billy Graham was nine
years old
they had indoor plumbing for the first
time so you can imagine they were pretty
excited that when it was time to take a
bath they didn’t have to go out on the
porch like they used to do and use the
wash tub outside in the cold and the
heat didn’t matter so they were pretty
excited about that now I want to give
you a look at the Sun Room which also
doubled as Billy Graham’s mother’s
office you can see a beautiful original
bright blue typewriter there next to the
log book that she used to keep track of
the finances for the family business
which was the Graham brothers dairy
just a couple miles from the spot here
in Charlotte so now we’re entering the
den and the family members that
sometimes stop by here at the library
tell me that the dentin doesn’t quite
look like it did back then it’s a little
more formal today it used to be a little
more of a place where the family could
hang out together now one of our last
stops is going to be over to the kitchen
you’ll see that beautiful light blue
color that Billy Graham’s mother loved
so much along with original white
cabinets and even an original wooden
ironing board that pulled right out from
the wall there so this brings us to the
end of our tour but if you would like to
check out this beautiful home for
yourself and go on a tour at your own
pace you can find out how to plan your
visit at Billy Graham library org
