We’ve gotten so used to thinking like survivors that we’ve forgotten we’re kings. You see, the problem with perpetually expecting decrease is that you never prepare for expansion. God will not let you die in your present wilderness, but you need to surrender your pauper mindset first. You have to dig in, sweat, and expand your relationships, resources, and capacity right here, right now. Don’t let your surrounding conditions keep you from digging, because the miracle is in the mud. You want to find it? Then forget about the storm and grab your shovel!

i want you to go to second kings chapter

3 verse 8-19

and there you will find

my assignment today

and while you turn me i say what an

honor

it was for the potter’s house

to host warm and evolved

and it seems kind of weird to say host

cause you’re family

so it’s like hosting your cousins

we’re all interconnected

and we were sitting around last night

with our half sleep cells

telling stories about the inner

connection intergenerationally

between the flow of the holy spirit

and how god moves from generation to

generation

we spent too much time talking about

generational curses

and not enough time talking about

generational blessings

there are generational blessings

shout amen if you understand that

and i want you to take notes because i

believe that when god blesses you he’ll

bless your children

they may not look like it right now but

they’re going to come into a blessing

that you prayed for for your children

and your grandchild let all the mamas

holler at me

let all the daddies make some noise

today we’re in second kings chapter 3

verse 8 through 19 and follow me closely

as as as

my purpose in ministering is not just to

acquaint you with the text itself

but to extrapolate from the text

the substance that is necessary for your

contemporary challenge

so in other words it’s not enough for

you to know that david killed goliath if

you don’t kill yours

so whenever i’m teaching about david

killing goliath it is not for its

historical content

but it is for the principles that he

teaches us

that brings us into new idioms of

thought and new dimensions of light

we don’t just want to serve a historical

god who has no contemporary relevance

the god that we serve is a right now god

so while we are looking at a historical

event

we are looking at it with contemporary

eyes

that we might better understand how to

face our talent and in the text today

we are listening at a conversation

between kings

and prophets

because we are a nation

of kings

prophets and priests

so we got to learn to think like kings

i’m going to say that again we got to

learn to think like kings we have to

eavesdrop on king problems so that we

are not distracted by proper problems

because we have been trained

to think like paupers

but we have been called

to be kings and priests under god

are you hearing what i’m saying oh this

is good i’m excited i’m fired up i’m

fired up it’s dangerous when i’m fired

up you’re in trouble today

and he said

which way shall we go up

which way shall we go and he answered

the way through the wilderness

of edom these are kings talking so the

king of israel went and the king of

judah and the king of edom

and they fetched a compass of seven days

journey and there was no water for the

host

and for the cattle

that followed them

and the king of israel said alas

that the lord hath called these three

kings together to deliver them into the

hand of moab

he’s discouraged he’s upset

because the kings have made a decision

that has caused the followers to be in

trouble

they have followers of cattle and sheep

and land and they have gone through the

wilderness

to attack their enemy

but they did not make provisions

for their

followers but jehoshaphat said is there

not here a prophet of the lord listen to

the difference between how jehoshaphat

talks

and how the king of israel talks the

king of israel said well we might as

well give up the moabs have got us

because if we got to go through this

desert and we have to go through a dry

place we we might as well give up the

battle we’re defeated so many people

when they go through a dry place want to

give up

and be defeated

because the way

god brings you is dry

and tough

you you assume that you can’t win the

battle because you are emotionally dry

or financially dry or attitudinally dry

but just because you’re going through a

dry place doesn’t mean you can’t go

through

now the king of israel is ready to give

up but the king of judah who is

jehoshaphat said is there not here a

prophet of the lord that we may inquire

of the lord by him

and one of the kings of israel’s

servants answered and said here is

elijah the son of shaphat which poured

water on the hands of elijah

and jehoshaphat said the word of the

lord is with him

so the king of israel

and jehoshaphat who is the king of judah

and the king of edom who they don’t

share his name went down to him

and elijah said unto the king of israel

he said unto the king of israel what

have i to do with you

see the the the king of israel is the

son

of jezebel

and ahead and and he had been serving

god but now he wants god to work for it

you’d be surprised at the people who

haven’t been serving god but when they

get in trouble they want god to work for

oh y’all don’t hear what i’m saying and

elijah said unto the king of israel what

have i to do with thee get me to the

prophets of thy father and to the

prophets of thy mother go back to them

go back to baal and the king of israel

said unto him they

for the lord have called these three

kings together to deliver them into the

hand of moab

still defeated and eliza said as the

lord of hosts liveth before whom i stand

surely worried not that i regard the

presence of jehoshaphat the king of

judah i would not look toward thee nor

see i would let you go

but because of who you’re connected to

[Applause]

there are many many people that get

blessed

just because they’re connected to

somebody

who’s blessed

and then he says but now bring me a

minstrel

and it came to pass when the minstrel

played that the hand of the lord

came upon you

this is why our music is so

important

because it provokes

the hand of the lord

to come upon you

and he said thus saith the lord make

this valley

full of ditches

this is the word of the lord after that

the music played this is the word of the

lord make this valley full of ditches

for thus saith the lord ye shall not see

when

neither shall you see rain

yet that valley shall be filled

with water

that’s almost shy

i’m talking to somebody i don’t know who

it is

you ain’t even gonna see it coming

it’s gonna be filled with what you

should not see rain

you will not see wind yet this valley

shall be filled with water that ye may

drink both he and your cattle and your

bees everything connected to you go get

something to drink today

and this is but a light thing in the

sight of god he will deliver the

moabites also into your hand

not only will he be your provider he

will be your protector

and ye shall smite every fenced city and

every choice city and shall fail every

good tree and stop all the wells of

water and mar every good piece of land

with stones

for expansion

spirit of the living god falls fresh on

us today as we open up your word

we are anxious to hear what the spirit

of the lord would speak to us today i

thank you in advance for what you’re

going to do

have your way in the mighty name of

jesus we pray we believe you we believe

you for expansion

if you told us to build for expansion

we’re gonna build for it

if you say that we won’t see wind

and we won’t see rain

and yet there will be water that

miraculously comes out of nowhere in our

dry

place then we receive the prophetic

utterance coming from the word of god

today

and we will be ready for it when it

comes

in jesus name we pray

my mother was born in 1926 my father was

born in 1924

they in other words they were the

children of the depression

and because my parents were the children

born born in the depression

toward the end of the depression

they

parented us

by training us for hard times

i know how to do stuff

that i don’t need to do

i know how to turn cucumbers into

pickles

i know how to take apple peelings and

make jelly

i know how to raise my own garden

i know how to do things for which

i don’t need to do i know how to buy

retread tires

i know how to hem my own pants and so

buttons on my clothes

i know how to stitch a little bit i see

all your parents can give you is all

your parents got

the problem with parenting is you’re

prepping them

for a generation they won’t live in

so they were getting me ready for

something

i would never see

in the midst of doing that i also had to

give credit to the fact that they also

exposed me

to things that i would see

but most of what they taught me

and the mentality that came with it

assumed

that i would be a survivor and not a

succeeder

and when you are trained to think like a

survivor

you don’t plan

on success

oh y’all don’t hear what i’m saying to

you

because what you do is you train

the next generation how to think

by by the tools you give them

i i can change an alternator

i can stud the wall

i can lay brick and block

i can make it happen

my first baptism pool i built it

it leaked the first time but i built it

it took me a while to get the technique

right you know

i built it on sunday morning and we came

back to church on sunday night and the

whole church was wet

so i had to practice a little bit to get

it together but my point is

i know how to lay blood my son does not

know how to lay block

he doesn’t know how to seal a pool

my daughters don’t know how to make

jelly

they don’t know how to make pickles from

cucumbers

but i can still see my mother with with

her jug on the back porch

with pickles my grandmother

churned butter

my grandmother baked the cake

with a spoon

a mixer was never even thought about

she would take the flat end of a spoon

in a bowl

and cream the butter with the sugar and

i can still see her arm shaking i i know

how to do it but i don’t do it anymore

because i have a mixer

my challenge was not my parents

challenge

i had another challenge

to face

but it was not the depression

now should it ever arise

that all the kroger’s closed and the big

bear goes out i i will still be eating

should it ever arise my mother wanted to

raise us in such a way that we could

take care of ourselves so we might want

a wife but we wouldn’t need a wife in

order to take care

of ourselves

i can cook just as good as the average

woman anywhere

i don’t want to

every day

but should i need to i’m not going to

starve waiting on you to come home

because i was raised to think even a

monkey can climb a tree and get a banana

so you ought to be able to do something

y’all talk to me

but what i learned in life what i wasn’t

prepared for

i was prepared for decrease

not expansion

so i didn’t think in terms of expansion

i talked in terms of expansion

i shouted about expansion i danced about

expansion but i wasn’t prepared for

expansion

because i was raised by a minimalist

and if you think about how you i’m

talking about how you think

if you if you examine how you think your

thinking is a reflection of your

training

so i can make preserves

but i haven’t made preserves

i go by dessert like you do

but i know how so i am good at stuff

that we don’t need no more

i can do the swim

i can do the twists again

like we did last summer

problem is nobody’s doing the twist

our problem today is that we have

generations of people

who

who like to talk about increase and

expansion

but they think like decrease and

survival

and the reason we are so emotional and

so sensitive is because we think like

followers not like leaders

we think like slaves are not like kings

and so we submit ourselves to situations

that we are actually called to correct

but because we were not taught to be

correctors of a problem we get in a

problem and we give up before the fight

ever breaks out because like the king of

israel we let the conditions around us

convince us that we can’t reach what

we’re trying to reach because of

circumstances beyond our control

i’m going somewhere i’m going somewhere

just wait on me

some kind of way god let me experience

enough of the progress because i was

born

last in the lineage of our family i

caught my parents on the upswing

so so though i experienced them making

pears and and jelly and and pie crusts

from scratch and studding their own

walls and changing their own alternators

and buying retreads i also caught them

on the upswing when they were buying

houses and buying property and buying

communities and buying neighborhoods and

so i got a little bit of both of those

things working inside of me and i

benefited from when i came

i came late in the lineage

i’m the baby of the family

so i caught them when they were going to

business meetings and board rooms and

having conversations with professionals

and i got to be

in the room where kings were talking

so when i build today

when i for instance when we built this

church

we built it for expansion

sure we can minimize it down to a small

size and handle a small wedding or small

funeral with a few hundred people we

have the facilities to do that but we

can also accommodate up to 12 or 14 000

should we need to

we built it so that walls would be

retractable

we built it with led screens

we built it in such a way that we could

take care of corporate needs or church

needs we built it in such a way that

microsoft

rented my building for their event

y’all don’t hear what i’m saying

we built it in such a way that we bought

a corporate office and a warehouse to

produce our own products

we built it in such a way that we bought

an 18-wheeler so that we would have our

own trucks and negotiated our first

drill for distribution to put vhs in

walmart

i’m just talking about king talk

i’m talking about king talk look at your

neighbor say i’m talking about king talk

so we hired people who could do graphic

arts designs and we hired people who

could do tape duplication we hired

people who could drive 18 wheelers and

we hired people who could negotiate

deals and we we set ourselves up so that

we would be independent and not

co-dependent and not at the mercy of

third-party resources in order to

accommodate people because i think like

a king let’s let’s just shout it out i

think like a king

yeah you said it you said it you didn’t

say it real good but you said it let’s

let’s say it with some authority i think

like a king

when we designed our home we we chose

certain indoor outdoor furniture because

i seldom buy anything that will only do

one thing

[Applause]

i seldom hire anybody who can only do

one thing i wanted the furniture so

diverse enough that we could use it

inside or outside depending on the crowd

i added enough freezer so that if the

soil shut down we could survive a long

time with freezers in our own house come

on talk to me somebody i put them in the

garage and everywhere else i i i’m about

to purchase a generator in case the

power goes out in the house again i

won’t be at the mercy of the city or the

state in order to be able to turn on the

lights in the meantime i got flashlights

candles and everything else in water and

cans of tuna should everything get crazy

i want to be self-sustaining i don’t

want to be at the mercy of other people

because i think like a king not like a

follower so if i go through a dry place

i got enough provision in my own

resource to be able to make it do it do

you hear the words that are coming out

of my mouth

so you got your anointing and you got

your gifting and you got your power and

you got your glory i’m gonna work on

your head

i’m going to work on your head be what

because what good is it for you to have

the anointing if you still have the

habits of a pauper

over over our lives we will go through

moments of gradual

gradual moments of growth

have you ever had to to move and been

shocked at how much stuff you collected

over time

so what it means is that even if it

doesn’t happen suddenly we all grow but

our structure doesn’t change

so we take on more stuff and more weight

and more responsibility i don’t mean

little weight because i’m not gonna

preach about that

don’t feel annoying to preach about that

today

but we take on more weight more

responsibility more stress

but we’re using old structures

for new weight

and we have not changed the structure to

accommodate where we are right now

we say lord

use me

i’ll go wherever you want me to go

but we don’t have a passport

don’t own a passport

so while they’re saying lord use me

anywhere they don’t have the structure

that if god would answer their prayer

they’re not in a position to respond

when god says respond

they say that they’re going to prosper

but they have no relationship

with finances

they don’t have a banker

majority don’t have a lawyer

majority don’t have estate planning and

when they get through dancing and

worshiping and crying we end up having

to bury them

because they don’t even have life

insurance

y’all don’t want to talk to me today

the problem is they built their life

around the current conditions and then

pray for god to bless them

they only embrace friends from similar

backgrounds

so not only are they void of the

information they surround themselves

with people who are void of the

information and until your whole circle

is in the same situation and that’s why

they keep saying girl i feel you

they feel you because they just like you

[Applause]

y’all like to talk to me

look at the people you run with

you couldn’t raise enough to change

anything from the people you run with

because they have the same situation

you do

they have no contingency plan

for growth

so you walk out of a meeting where god

has been mighty and powerful

and you’ve got the anointing and you’ve

got the favor and you’ve got the touch

of god but you don’t have the strategy

to unlock another dimension yes you’re

closer to god yes you have the anointing

of god yes god has empowered you but he

didn’t empower you to be a survivor

he empowered you to be a succeeder

and when you take a survivor and make

them succeed what they do is try to be a

one-man band

so they stress themselves to death

taking on more and more and more and

more and more weight because they have

trust issues

y’all ain’t gonna talk to me thank you

for the real sister the brother in the

back thank you for standing up they have

trust issues so when god gets ready to

give them more they don’t have the

infrastructure to go to the next level

because they they’re embracing more with

a less mentality

and they would rather have a hundred

percent of ten dollars than fifty

percent of a million

they have no relationship with a lawyer

36 percent of americans have never been

to a doctor

60 million americans have reported

mental health issues and only 45 percent

have ever been to a therapist

we’re not building for expansion

because our parents didn’t have to go to

therapists

because they didn’t have the stress you

got

they didn’t have the pressure you got

they didn’t have the anxiety you got

they didn’t have millions of people in

their pocket through their phone

they’re not surrounded by strangers fake

friends who are all in your business

trying to decide whether they like your

hairdo or not they didn’t have to

contend with that

your mama’s friend was her next-door

neighbor you got friends all the way

from other countries commenting on what

shoes you got on and you take them

seriously

so you got pressure coming from the

right and from the left and from the

north and from the south and you’re

completely stressed out by people that

you could actually cut off

but because you don’t think like kings

you think you have to keep them on and

you think their opinion matters and you

got the nerve to get your feelings heard

about what they said like they matter to

your life but if you’re like a king you

don’t let nobody come up in your life

like a pauper and control your decisions

by your circumstances

the king of mesha who is the king of

moab

king messer rather is the king of moab

and he has given a hundred thousand rams

and a hundred thousand sheep to jehoram

who is king of israel

because jehoram’s father was ahab

and as long as ahab was living they had

in common that they were idolaters

and he has given him a hundred thousand

ram and a hundred thousand sheep with

the wool

that’s that’s some that’s something

so now they they got

jehoram

has succeeded ahab into power and now

that ahab is dead the king of mesha who

is from moab has changed his mind and

decided to attack

the person who says hosanna today will

say crucify him tomorrow so don’t get

too caught up in what they did on today

because on tomorrow they may change your

mind the person who gave him a hundred

thousand rams and a hundred thousand

sheep is now trying to kill him

and jehoram has inherited

an enemy

that he did not earn

but he is smart enough to understand

that in order to expand your stress you

have to expand your relationships

he’s been better than his father ahab

he’s torn down the the statues to baal

he hooks up with jehoshaphat the king of

jehoshaphat had a relationship with god

jehoshaphat didn’t wait till he got in

trouble to call on god

jehoshaphat had an anointing on his life

jehoshaphat knew what a true word from

god was jehoshaphat had been a praying

man his ways had pleased the lord he

hooked up with somebody who had favor

and he knows that he cannot go against

the king of moab by himself and he gets

the king of egon and these three kings

are strategizing how they can’t defeat

the king of moab by themselves

but as a team they can defeat him

and the lord told me to tell you you’ve

gone as far as you can go by yourself

god is going to put you in a circle

that’s going to stretch you

and there may not be people who always

agree with you but god is going to use

them to catapult you into the next

dimension these three groups of people

weren’t even the same kinds of people

but god’s going to bring you into a

place where somebody’s going to finance

what he prophesied was going to happen

in your life and somebody’s going to

open up a door that takes you into the

next dimension and the lord said if you

don’t expand your relationships you’re

going to get defeated where he promised

you to have victory i don’t know who i’m

talking to but i know i’m talking to

somebody

let me apologize to all the people this

message don’t fit

because this is a prophetic word for

somebody who’s trying to think like a

king and not like a pauper and if i’m

talking to you i want you to open your

mouth and make some noise in this place

building for expansion i know you don’t

understand it because you’re still back

in the depression but i’m building for

expansion and you know what i’m

forgetting those things which are behind

and i’m reaching to those things which

are before i press towards the mark of

the prize of the high calling of god in

christ

i don’t even call what i used to call a

problem is not a problem what was a

problem has become a normal because i

have learned how to spread the weight

over a team

which means even though i’m afraid of

you i’d rather let you in and get the

victory then stay by myself and be

defeated y’all don’t hear me i’m talking

to somebody

who am i talking to in this place

jehoram is the king of israel

and jehoram has decided

we’re going to go by the way the

wilderness

and he gets out of the wilderness and

says the moab the more bites are going

to kill us

you you know you always got that friend

they said child i feel sorry for you

you ain’t gonna make it out of this

you should have stayed where you are

you should have played where it would

say you always got that friend that sand

balance to buy your sword a friend

that’s trying to get you to come down

off the wall you’re not supposed to be

up there you can’t do that you can’t

have this you can’t have the other i

remember when i first moved to dallas we

were looking at a house in a particular

neighborhood and a friend of mine told

me said oh you can’t buy in that

neighborhood they don’t allow us in that

neighborhood i said they may not allow

us but they’re going to allow me because

i’m going to buy this house

slap somebody and tell them i’m gonna be

the first one

i’m gonna break a rule

i’m gonna break through a wall i’m gonna

break through a barrier i’m gonna be the

first one since then i’m gonna be the

first one i’m gonna go where my grandma

didn’t go where my mama didn’t go where

my sister didn’t go where my auntie

didn’t go i’m breaking into another

dimension i’m gonna be first i may have

to learn how to dress i may have to

learn how to walk i may not know who to

call who is elijah i don’t know who

elijah is but i’m going to meet him

today because i build it for expansion i

want 30 seconds of crazy praise

and pastor robertson when i was

preaching i had been in the woman evolve

event and you have never seen such glory

in all your life women laying on the

floor seeking god in a way that was

utterly amazing i got to be in two of

the sessions and the power of god has

fallen and the lord told me that because

you didn’t ask him for stuff

because you sought

his presence

over his presence

because you sought first the kingdom of

heaven

god says he get ready to add all kind of

stuff to you that’s going to blow your

mind i don’t know who i’m talking to

today but because you were laying on

your face expecting nothing in return

but the glory of god goodness and mercy

are going to follow you all the days of

your life and you’re going to step into

stuff you never even asked for because

you helped the needy because you served

the hungry because you helped the

helpless god said i’m going to open up

the windows of heaven and pour you out a

blessing you don’t have room enough to

receive i said give him some praise

so they are out here can i preach this

so they are out here in the wilderness

and the place is dry

anytime god is gonna get ready to really

bless you with a promise you have to go

through a dry place

if there’s anybody in here that’s been

in a dry place

it’s because you’re getting close to the

promised land when the children of

israel were going to the promised land

they had to go through a dry place a dry

place is a sign that you’re getting

close to the milk and honey when you’re

tired and you’re weary and you’re

frustrated and you don’t have what you

want and you don’t have what you need is

because god’s got you in the wilderness

and if god’s got you in the wilderness

you are closer to the promised land than

you’ve ever been before and i want you

to give him a five-minute praise by

faith

though they were i’m calling it into

was trying to tell him that they were

going to be defeated by the moabites

jehoshaphat said is there a prophet in

israel this is why you got to have a

great man of god

i gotta have a great man a woman of god

i can’t have no deadbeat man or woman of

god because when i need a word from god

sunday that gets me ready for monday i

need a word from god that makes me drop

my notepad and throw my hands up and

praise god i need a word from god that

shows me which door i need to walk in

because you’re not supposed to touch

order your structure your friendship

expand because what god is getting ready

to pour on you is bigger than your

structure

and elijah came out the door and he saw

jehoram and almost went back in

i wouldn’t even deal with

your daddy served bail

you led israel down the wrong path i

wouldn’t even deal with you

except you got jehoshaphat with you

jehoshaphat had the favor of god

let me tell you what’s going to get you

at the table

they may have the money they may have

the land

they may have the title but you got the

favor of god

and by the time i got to the door
