brother I love you man thank you praise
the
Lord yeah thank you
Lord thank you Lord thank you Lord thank
you Lord God’s been good to us God has
been good to
us looking for some more agreement on
that God has been good to us thank you
Lord so kind so faithful so merciful so
gracious so
forgiving thank you Lord he has been
good well if you have been
here since last night you have already
heard more anointed word than most
people will hear in a
lifetime that’s a
thought the you and I have already sat
under the word just in the last 24 hours
more anointed word than many people
around this world will ever heal will
ever hear we have so much to be thankful
for do you love the word of
God thank you Lord tonight I’m going to
ask you if you would just join some
Faith with me you already told me you
love the word I’m going to ask you to
stir up some expectation about this
tonight stir up some excitement about it
and that will actually make a difference
in what comes
out I think a lot of times people come
to church and they think all the
pressure is on that guy or girl talking
not realizing they have a part to play
in
it I I mean think back for a lot of us
maybe younger years younger days and you
used to go to concerts you and Friends
you’d pile into a car and you you drive
many of you drive for miles and miles
and miles hours and hours and you drive
to that concert and the whole time
you’re you’re in that car every one of
you going this is going to be so good oh
I can’t wait this is going to be awesome
this is going to be amazing I hope they
sing this I hope they do that and you
just this excitement that builds and
builds and builds and then you get there
and they start singing your song and you
scream and you that’s my song and you’re
crying
and you’re surrounded by 10,000 people
all saying that’s my song and they’re
all screaming and they’re all
singing sometimes I wish people would
come to
church
differently than the way they
do I wonder if it would affect the
atmosphere if you’ve ever been in an
environment like that one where there’s
thousands and thousands of people
even if it’s a secular environment a
Godless environment it ain’t
boring people are
excited and it’s not just the people on
the platform it’s not just the singers
it’s not just the songs or the band it’s
the people in the
room it’s the excitement and the
expectation and the anticipation that
they bring into the room and it makes a
difference it creates an atmosphere and
I will tell you I have found out one
thing to be very true in Ministry
atmosphere
matters atmosphere
matters there were places where Jesus
went in to preach and the anointing was
so strong and the word went out and
people received and people were healed
and people were delivered and then he
went to his own
Hometown you remember that he went to
his own Hometown and it said there he
could do no Mighty work
man that does not jive with religious
tradition that says oh God can do
anything we just don’t know if he will
no jesus carried with him 24/7 the
willingness of God to heal but he went
to a place where he
couldn’t and it wasn’t on him it was on
them they wouldn’t hear what he had to
say they wouldn’t put any faith in what
he had to say we know from other from
accounts of some things that he talked
about he stood up and said the spirit of
the Lord is upon me he’s anointed me to
preach the gospel to the poor he’s
anointed me to heal the
brokenhearted he preached that anointed
message and everywhere he went and
preached that that anointing worked on
people except in this place that
place and all those people who knew
him the Bible said it was his
family and they said anointed boy what
are you talking about
anointed we know you you grew up down
the street we know you I watched you
grow up you anointed give me a
break I know you I know your daddy he
made this table like you worked on this
table come fix this table you made for
me wobbly and such they wouldn’t receive
anything and the Bible says they were
offended and there he could do no Mighty
work I’m telling you atmosphere matters
and before we go any further tonight we
can make a decision together to stir up
some Faith to jack up some
expectation but you’re not looking to me
and I’m not looking to you all eyes are
on Jesus tonight all eyes and all ears
are on his word and we are fully
expecting him to do tonight what only he
can do and for the word to do what only
the word can do but don’t sit there uh
half-hearted in this stir yourself up
can you do that tonight let’s stir up
some expectation about what we’re going
to hear and receive from the Lord why
don’t we pray together and we’ll jump
into it father we love you and bless you
tonight thank you so much for every good
thing you have already done tonight this
morning last night Lord you’ve already
done so much you’ve already done so many
good things and we have already
experienced more of your goodness than
many many people will will ever
experience and we are so thankful for it
and we release Fai Faith together
tonight for more and more and more of it
we’re asking you for help I’m asking you
for help the the help and the anointing
to deliver your word tonight to your
people we ask you not only for the
anointing to deliver it but the
anointing to hear it and to receive it
and to put it into practice tonight and
every one of us Lord we want you to know
how much we love you how much we love
your word it’s a lamp to our feet it’s a
light to our path and tonight we Rejoice
at your word like somebody who’s found
great
treasure it is treasure to us worth more
than gold worth more than silver worth
more than all the money in the world
your word is precious it’s valuable we
love it and we’re asking you to help us
see into it tonight in ways we never
have before reveal Jesus to us we want
to hear his voice the voice of our Good
Shepherd who calls us by name and leads
us out we want to understand who we are
in him and who he is in us and we give
you all the thanks the praise for the
good work you’ve begun on us and we call
you faithful to finish it we give you
the glory in Jesus name amen amen so
you’re excited
right you’re
excited
amen you got in the car and drove to
church or came down the elevator saying
what this is going to be good this is
going to be good this is going to be
good and if you didn’t do that then let
me on behalf of the preachers who will
preach to you in the future please go go
to church saying this is going to be
good this is going to be good this is
going to be good amen don’t fight with
each other all the way to
church and then get out and put on your
church
face and say Hey brother God bless
you no some genuine excitement amen
thank you Lord open your Bibles with me
again please
tonight to the book of
Acts we’ll look again at a scripture we
looked at this morning
and I know there were some that were not
with us let me take just a moment or two
and we’ll recap go over some of these
things again while you’re looking for
the book of Acts chapter 20 let me
remind you what the angel said to Mary
in Luke chapter
1 uh when she began or the the angel
when he began telling her about Jesus
and the great call on his life one of
the things the angel said to her was
about the
kingdom about Jesus Kingdom he said in
of this Kingdom there will be what no
end of this Kingdom there will be no end
and this Earth has never seen a kingdom
without an end we’ve seen kingdoms we’ve
seen them rise we’ve seen Empires grow
out of Kingdoms that reached across the
known
World we’ve seen and read in our history
books about the Roman Empire that lasted
over a thousand years going back before
that you we got the Persian Empires
after that we had the British Empire I
mean we’ve seen some Empires we’ve seen
some some kingdoms stretch out and span
across the known world do you know at
one point the British Empire covered one
quarter of the earth’s land mass that’s
huge and that Empire existed for
400
years now the only thing any of those
empires have in common now is is that
they’ve all come to an
end they’ve all come to an end no matter
how big they got how much land they
amassed how many other nations they
conquered they all came to an end I was
laughing about this studying some of
this this the last few days that British
Empire really caught my attention that’s
a lot of land a quarter of the earth’s
land mass belonged to the British Empire
and then I got to study and I thought I
know we as Americans have an IND
independence day where we celebrate our
independence from Great Britain no
offense Ashley and Carly I’m not talking
about you to
specifically but do you realize there
are I think if I read this correctly 48
other nations in the world that all have
an Independence Day where they celebrate
independence from that
Empire that’s got to be rough right 48
different countries around the world all
celebrate being free from from
you what do all these empires have in
common they came to an end the only one
there is just one that will never come
to an end and it’s the kingdom of our
god of Jesus Kingdom there will be no
end but everything else ends everything
on Earth has a beginning and a middle
and an end everything and we talked a
lot about that we talked a lot about
this
Kingdom the kingdom that doesn’t end but
our
part we’ll to talk more about it tonight
we see this here in the book of Acts
chapter
20 let’s use this Paul’s life and his
ministry as an example here of what
we’re talking about Acts chapter 20 Paul
said in verse 24 he said none of these
things move me see people had been
telling him don’t go to Jerusalem don’t
go to these places there’s chains
waiting for you there’s tribulation and
persecution waiting for you and he knew
even by the the leadership of the Holy
Spirit and by the word of the spirit he
knew what was waiting for him but he
said this doesn’t move me these things
don’t move me nor do I count my life
dear to myself for one reason what was
it so that I may finish that I may
finish the kingdom does not end but the
kingdom of God is the only thing that
doesn’t end everything else does and
it’s the end it’s the finishing that
Paul had on his mind all the time you
can see here that it was the driving
force behind what he was doing it was
the motivating factor behind everything
he was doing and the word that he was
preaching I’ve got to finish this work
he said he said none of these things
move me I don’t count my life dear to
myself one reason so that I may finish
my race how with joy this is what I want
us to get into tonight finishing the
race with joy and look what he connected
to that the ministry I’m going to finish
my race with joy and finish the ministry
which I have received from the Lord
Jesus to testify to the gospel of the
grace of God lord began dealing with me
and my wife just a few weeks ago as we
came out of the summer and into the fall
and he gave us an assignment for our
church for this season that we’re in and
he he told us I want you focused on
Joy every year for the last several
years we have a church have taken
October and we call it October overflow
and we dig into the word together as a
church and we look at the character of
God his nature his DNA and the closer
you look at him the more you see he he
truly is the god of increase that’s his
him that’s who he is but it’s not just
increase it’s increase to the point of
overflow and that’s too
much you now like a minute ago you were
excited I didn’t lose you with too much
right he’s the god of increase but
increase to overflow so we’ve been
looking at that together this month all
throughout the month of October and
specifically one of the things Jesus
said Jesus said to his disciples these
things I’ve said to you this is John
15:1 these things I’ve said to you that
my joy would remain in you and that your
joy would be full other translations say
that your joy would
overflow Jesus talked about his joy and
your joy and his Joy he said I’m saying
these things to you and if you’ll abide
in these words and let these words abide
or stay or remain in you then my joy
will remain in you
now a joy that remains is a totally
foreign concept to an unbelieving World
they have no idea or concept of what it
means to have a joy that remains a joy
that is constant a joy that is
consistent a joy that doesn’t rise and
fall with the changing tides but a joy
that
remains the unbelieving world has an
experience with joy but it’s connected
to the temporary realm as long as the
things in this realm are looking good
feeling good then my joy is there as
long as there’s plenty in the account as
long as the body’s feeling strong as
long as things are going okay at home
things are going okay at work then
there’s joy but the moment temporary
things change the moment the temporary
things that brought the temporary Joy
are gone well then the joy is gone so
Jesus is differentiating here between
his joy and all others he’s talking to
us about a joy that remains a joy that
stays constant and he saying if you will
abide in my word if you’ll stay with the
things you’ve heard just in the last 24
hours if you’ll let these words stay in
you you abide in them then his Joy will
stay and the temporary things can do
whatever they want to do then then uh
finances can come and go strength can
come and go but the Joy stays are you
hearing me tonight a joy that remains
and he said if that kind of Joy will
remain in you then you’ll begin to
overflow overflow with joy and when you
and I start
overflowing that’s when we become
ministers
ministers you think well I’m you know
I’m not a minister I’m a I’m a mechanic
I’m a mom I’m a dad I run an office no
no you’re a
minister because God has done something
for you God has done something in you
but listen to this it’s beyond
you what he’s done for you was never
intended to stay with you he always
intended for it to be a big time
blessing to you and then
overflow and that it would become Beyond
you somebody say it’s Beyond me Beyond
me we use that expression don’t we it’s
beyond me now sometimes we’re saying
well I don’t know that’s beyond me what
are we saying I can’t comprehend that I
don’t understand that that’s not what
I’m talking about I’m saying it’s beyond
you the the gospel is for you but it’s
beyond you the effect and the the reach
of it is beyond you Joy overflowing out
of you is beyond you this isn’t just
about you being happy this isn’t just
about you being full of joy it’s about
you overflowing with it and splish
splashing onto other people all around
you and glory to God that’s what makes
you a minister you’ve got something
people
need you got something people are crying
out
for and the Bible tells us that Jesus
himself he grew in Grace that’s what we
know about him from the time he was
young that he grew in wisdom in stature
and in favor same word translated
Grace with God and men and that’s really
all we know about his entire life from
childhood until he took his first step
into Ministry and what the Book of John
chapter 1 tells us about Jesus as he
launched into his
ministry John says we received from him
Grace upon Grace what’s that tell you
Jesus is
overflowing he spent the first 30 years
of his life growing in Grace and growing
in Grace and growing in Grace and
growing in favor and growing in wisdom
and growing in stature and growing in
Grace and growing and growing and
growing until he hit a place in his life
where he was so full of that Grace that
it began to overflow in the preaching of
the word it overflowed in the healings
in the Miracles and the deliverances
everything you and I read from the
ministry of Jesus is the result of that
overflow
well guess what people are receiving
from you right now whatever you are full
and overflowing
with let me be real plain whatever
you’re full
of that’s what they’re
getting now you might you might be nice
you might be sweet you might be kind but
I’m telling you your family the people
closest to you the people you work with
should shoot the people on your row are
not in need of more of
you this world is not crying out give me
more of them
no they need you full not of
yourself you they don’t need you full of
you what they need is
beyond there you go it’s beyond me it’s
beyond you what they need is you and I
full and overflowing with Jesus and his
goodness and his grace and his
Joy his Joy so I want to hear you say it
tonight I want to hear you say it I’m a
minister I’m a minister say it again I’m
a minister Minister what makes you a
minister you’ve got what people
need and if you’ll give that to them
you’re a minister you may never stand on
a platform you may never stand behind a
Pulpit but you’re a minister because
what God has done in you he did it not
just to bless you it’s beyond you to be
a blessing to humanity say Amen if you
believe
it so look again with me please um at
the Book of John at something else we
looked at from the ministry of
Jesus Paul talked about finishing but he
didn’t just talk about finishing he
talked about the way he was going to
finish and the way way he was going to
finish was not dragging a half lifeless
corpse across a Finish
Line he said I’m finishing this thing
how with
joy and what I began to tell you a few
minutes ago we started this focus in our
church and uh it’s reaching Beyond
October and I think this is a word
that’s going to carry us through the end
of the year and I believe the Lord has
spoken to us and he said I want you
finishing this year
2024
strong well think about it if you’re
going to finish the year strong then
you’re going to have to finish it in
Joy why because the joy of the Lord is
your so if you’re going to finish this
thing strong this year and in case
anybody hadn’t told you this year is
like almost out of here I mean it’s just
a few days left but if you’re going to
finish this thing strong
you’re going to have to finish it in Joy
because the joy of the Lord is your
strength well if Joy and his Joy
specifically is your strength what is
depression what is
sadness it’s
weakness it’s
weakness look at John chapter 4 with
me I want to look again at this
encounter Jesus had
with the woman at the
well and I’m not going to take the time
to read the whole thing powerful story
many of you most of you I’d say probably
know it but Jesus is on the road he’s
taking a road trip here with his
disciples and he’s got to go what is it
from Judea to Galilee do I have that
right and he’s going to go through
Samaria and I started looking some of
this up not long ago found out from
where he was to this little pit stop
they made at the well was something like
35
miles and they did not
Uber uh there there was no
Transportation like that this is a
journey on foot so when the Bible tells
us here in John chapter 4 that Jesus Sat
by the well being wearied from his
journey now you know 35 miles a walk and
will make you want to sit down for a
little
while and he was evidently in such a
physically depleted
condition that the disciples left him
there by himself and went into the city
to buy
food now put all these things together
it’s been a long
journey they haven’t eaten scripture
even tells us what time of day it was
it’s the sixth hour probably noon it’s
lunchtime
I have looked into that verse for years
thinking the sixth hour what does the
sixth hour represent oh it’s the number
of man the number of man it’s not yet
the number of completion the number
God’s number it’s
lunchtime it’s
lunchtime the man is hungry they’ve been
walking a long
time so he’s sitting there hungry
depleted of strength and energy I
imagine he said guys you’re going to
have to go you’re going to have to go
get something for us to eat and bring it
back I don’t think I can take another
step okay Jesus we’ll go get you
something is there anything in
particular you want there’s a great
barbecue joint down there you want
something from there not just whatever
you bring it back and I’ll eat so they
leave him in the meantime this woman
comes to begin draw drawing water from
the well now you know this whole
conversation Jesus and her getting into
a conversation which ultimately turns
into a religious debate about where one
ought to
worship and she is
argumentative and she finally says after
hearing what Jesus had to say about all
of it she said well I know the Messiah
is coming and when he comes he’ll tell
us that I’m right I mean basically is
what she said and finally he said to her
I who speak to you am he and the cover
comes off and her eyes come open and
this woman is about to have an encounter
with love
himself and if anybody needed an
encounter with love it was somebody
who’d been married and divorced married
and divorced married and divorced
married and divorced married and
divorced and is now in the arms of a man
who’s not her husband you don’t go
through that without coming out on the
other side with a twisted idea of
love which is why I think she couldn’t
recognize him the whole time she’s
talking to him claiming to look for him
but couldn’t recognize love and then he
revealed himself so she runs off to her
Village and becomes a missionary to her
family come see a man who told me
everything I ever did in the meantime
Jesus is sitting there and the disciples
come back to him and this is what we
read here in John chapter
4 in verse 31 it says in the meantime
his disciples urged him saying Rabbi eat
eat something you need something to E
eat but look at what he said I he said
to them I have food to eat which you do
not know therefore the disciples said to
one another has somebody brought him
something to
eat and Jesus said to them my food is to
do the will of him who sent me and to
finish to finish the work now this is an
interesting thought bearing in mind what
we already know about Jesus and his
kingdom it’s a kingdom Without
End but so why is Jesus is talking about
finishing something because everything
on Earth comes to an end his kingdom is
not an Earthly Kingdom it operates
outside this
world everything on Earth comes to an
end Paul was motivated by finishing the
work Jesus was motivated by finishing
the work and he said it’s my
food it’s my
food when those disciples came back to
him I can only imagine I mean they’re
literally saying did somebody bring him
something to eat why cuz he’s
different there’s been some kind of
change he couldn’t take another step
just a few hours ago so worn down worn
out some translations say to the point
of exhaustion come on 35 miles
folks you might get on a tread m a
treadmill every day I guarantee you
ain’t doing
that it will wear you out
And yet when they come back to him he’s
energized there’s a smile on his face
there’s a pep in his step and they say
who brought him something to eat and he
said no I got food you don’t even know
about my food is to
finish can we say that together my food
is to finish to finish the work to do
the will of him who sent me and to
finish the work he’s saying that
finishing the work will do the same
thing for you in your inner man that
having a good meal will do for your
physical
body and when you’re out of energy food
can restore that it’s got nutrients in
it it’s got things in it that will
replenish that energy make you strong
again food will strengthen you food will
enable you to keep going it’ll sustain
you I got to be careful talking about
this in church people get food on their
mind real easily Stay With Me food later
word now man shall not live by whatever
you going to eat later we need this word
food will strengthen you it will sustain
you and here’s what I want you to see
tonight it’ll satisfy
you I know you’ve had a good meal I know
you’ve sat down to a good Thanksgiving
meal a good Christmas dinner and pushed
yourself away and thought that was the
best thing I’ve ever had thank God I
wore my sweatpants to dinner
tonight it just
satisfies well there is nothing that
will satisfy you like finding following
and fulfilling the plan of
God it
satisfies it is so
satisfying that it’s hard to put into
words how satisfying it is and many
people sadly believe that satisfaction
is a myth
they can’t find
it and the word the words of that famous
philosopher who said I try and I try and
I
try and I can’t get
no can’t get no
what what are you doing knowing that
song Can’t Get No satisf Satisfaction
y’all excuse me just a second brother
Andrew um many years ago there was a
rock band called The Rolling
Stones uh I know you’ve been born again
your whole life so you never heard of
them but they sang a
song called satisfaction and he said I
can’t get no so that’s what that’s what
they’re talking
about but that’s not
true you can get some if you know where
to
look if you know where to look for
satisfaction it’s there for for and
Jesus is telling us here this is where
you look for total and complete
satisfaction not in doing your own will
now that is so counterintuitive to what
this world preaches they will tell you
that the only way to be satisfied is you
be you you just do you you find your
truth and and you you see that it’s all
about you it’s all about you and you do
what you want to do and you do it how
and you do it when and you do it where
and people are finding out there’s no
satisfaction in
it the satisfaction is not in doing your
own will but the will of him who sent
you and in finishing the work can you
see this connection I’m going to finish
with joy I’m going to finish
satisfied this is how we’re called to
finish the things that God has called to
to do thank you Lord okay well that was
the recap that took longer than I
thought so food strengthens food
sustains food satisfies and satisfaction
can be found if you know where to look
for it where do you look for it in doing
the will of God in finishing the work
now let me add to this
tonight if Jesus was this
emphatic this committed and this serious
about finishing the work if Paul was
this committed to finishing the
work then you know there’s got to be so
much spiritual significance to it that
Satan is not going to hang around and
just watch while you and I finish the
work every
Temptation every
attack every weapon that he tries to
form against you is
motivated by by stopping you from
finishing the
work this is what the Temptation in the
wilderness was about with
Jesus to stop him from finishing that
work I think sometimes people think that
the temptation to lie is maybe the the
biggest Temptation they face or the
temptation to steal or the temptation to
cheat all these things that we’ve called
sins that but these are not the greatest
Temptations you’ll ever
face the greatest Temptation you will
ever face from Satan is the temptation
to
stop the greatest Temptation you will
ever face from him and he will bring
this temptation to bear with as much
pressure as he possibly
can it’s the Temptation and the pressure
to stop specifically to stop trusting
God the greatest Temptation you’re ever
going to face is not a temptation to lie
to cheat to steal the greatest one
you’ll ever face is the temptation to
quit the temptation to stop trusting
God that’s right right and it’s the
temptation to stop because if you’ll
stop then you won’t
finish and if you don’t finish I mean
think about if Jesus hadn’t finished you
wouldn’t be here I wouldn’t be here but
because he finished amen because he
finished the work you and I are who we
are and because he finished the work we
have a work that we can finish but the
enemy is always bringing
pressure to get you to stop
short tempting you and I to stop
trusting
God we can spend a lot of time looking
at these things but I want to show you
just in the time that we have left
tonight a couple of the main ways I
think he goes about trying to get you to
to to stop so that you don’t
finish we were reading there in John
chapter 4 Jesus said in verse 34 my
foods to do the will of him who sent me
to finish his work look at the very next
verse he said in verse
35 do you not say he’s talking to his
disciples there are still four months
and then comes the Harvest
I read that for years and I thought
Jesus said don’t say
this I thought he said to them do not
say there’s still four months and then
comes the Harvest that’s not what he
said he he said to them do you not say
this listen to it from um the NIV put
that on the screen for us if you’ve got
it the
NIV Jesus says don’t you have a
saying don’t you say this don’t don’t
you have a saying what’s the
saying ah there’s still four months till
the
Harvest this is interesting to
me Jesus says to these guys don’t you
have this
saying what is that mean he’s a he’s
he’s a good Jewish boy like them he grew
up in the same neighborhoods what’s he
saying it’s a little Glimpse we’ve been
talking about his his his uh flesh
nature that he took on but it’s a little
Glimpse how do I even say it
Lord I think he’s saying we don’t have
this saying where I come
from do you you have a saying don’t you
Mike and car you guys spend a lot of
time in Russia do you ever hear a
Russian person how do you
say that oh the hell you Americans say
is
okay what that we don’t have that saying
you say how do this is what Jesus said
how do you say don’t you have a saying
are you hearing me does this make sense
to
you he said don’t you have a saying oh
there’s four
months there’s four months till the
Harvest what is that attitude we got
time we got time we don’t got to do
anything about it right now we got time
what’s Jesus said how you say in other
words we don’t have that saying where I
come from
he said you got a saying there’s still
four months to the Harvest behold I say
to
you this is what we say Where I Come
From lift up your eyes look at the
fields they’re already white for
Harvest what’s he telling them
go
now you don’t have time to be laying
around you don’t have time to have an
attitude oh there’s still four months
why do today what you could put off till
tomorrow you know what I mean what’s
Jesus going to say I don’t get
it I don’t get that we don’t have that
saying where I come
from I think we’re getting a glimpse
into what’s going on in heaven right
now one of the last things he said to
his disciples was I’m going to prepare a
place as soon as I leave here as soon as
this is finished I’m going to go start
working on that
I got something else I got to finish and
that’s what’s going on in
heaven right
now they are not laying
around was it brother Andrew you say
this this morning about cherubs fat baby
Angels is that what you
said man what a mixed up concept of
Heaven many people have had you know
what’s happening there right now they’re
finishing getting things ready
preparing thank you Lord Jesus said go
go
now the enemy comes and I’m telling you
this this attitude ah there’s still
time and there is time and I’m not
saying we’ve got to live pressured by a
ticking
clock but everything on this Earth comes
to an end everything on Earth has a
beginning has a middle has an end raise
your hand if you’re a thing on
earth guess what you have a beginning
you have a middle and there is an
end and you and I are called to finish
this race and the ministry remember I
told you just a few minutes ago you’re a
minister to finish this thing how with
joy with
joy so guard against this attitude there
there’s more there’s more demonic
spirits that work in it than you realize
this thing that just keeps putting it
off and putting it off and putting it
off and putting it
off this does not honor
God brother Andrew mentioned this I
believe it was last night he talked
about the Revelation that many people
have of God as Daddy call him daddy and
that is good and we need that we must
have
that but we also need to
know what time it is and how to relate
to him at that time let me give you an
example my my Dad’s
here George Pearson’s been my dad like
my entire
life there on my first
day while I’m at it my sister’s here as
well tonight and her husband and their
daughters my nieces it’s a whole family
thing
tonight at one point when I was I
graduated high school I went to work for
mom and dad and my grandparents in the
ministry at one point my dad and my mom
were my parents my pastors and my
bosses and it was upon me to know what
time it
was it was upon me to know what are they
right
now and I will never never forget we
used to do these meetings mom and dad
would do these meetings in the church
this was the early days of the church
and man I’m telling you the church grew
so fast went from a handful of people to
hundreds I mean just in days or weeks
and it was one service then two Services
then three services then a midweek
service and at one point not too long
into the start of the church we started
having Miracle Monday nights where I
think it was one Monday a month right uh
we’d have these Miracle Monday nights
and the church was packed and man they
brought in this fire
breathing spitten preacher I mean this
man of God he was not afraid of anybody
or anything Devils you nothing I mean he
screaming shouting and so because of
that it was always a very intense
service I remember that a lot of
preparation would go into these Services
a lot of prayer would go into these
services and at that time the church met
in a small chapel and that Chapel had
off to the side a very small little
speakers room very small you really
could just get a few people in there and
on most regular Church days after church
uh kind of after everybody had gone me
and my sister would kind of have the
speakers room you know we could go chill
we could sit back on the couch and we
knew where the snack drawer
was that speaker’s room had a little
middle drawer and you pull it out
and there was like a line of bag chips
and little bars and snacks and so that
was kind of our go-to I remember one
Monday night before service I walk into
the speaker room and I thought there’s a
lot of people in here a lot of mom’s
prayers it was very quiet very
solemn reverential
atmosphere until I came in and went to
the snack
drawer and I pulled that drawer open and
I grabbed me a bag of Doritos and I
popped them open I stood there and I’m
eating my
chips and it hit me I’m not supposed to
be in
here and I’m definitely not supposed to
be eating chips right
now they were my parents my pastors and
my
bosses and I related to my dad as my dad
in a different way than I related to him
as my pastor
and I related to him as my boss in a
different way than that I needed to know
what time it
was God is your
father God is your friend but don’t you
ever forget God is
God and there are
times there are times when you and I do
crawl up in his open loving arms and
call him father call him Daddy but there
are other times and I believe we’re at
the precipice of one of those times
right in here right now tonight where
the reverential awe of who God is needs
to rise on the inside of
us thank you Lord thank you Lord just
worship him for a minute with me thank
you
Lord we worship you
Lord we thank you
Father thank you Lord
let me keep going in this I believe the
Lord has something significant for us
here before we go
tonight you don’t have to take time to
turn to these I’ll just mention them to
you
quickly the Bible says in the book of
Galatians chapter 6 verse three if
anyone thinks himself to be something
when he is nothing he deceives
himself why would somebody think themsel
to be something when really they’re
nothing that only comes as the result of
comparison that comes as the result of
you comparing yourself to other people
and you get an inflated idea of who you
are and you see that because the very
next verse says but let each one examine
his own work and then he will have
rejoicing in himself alone and not in
another listen to it from the New Living
Translation be care be careful or pay
careful attention to your own work then
you will get are you ready for this the
satisfaction the satisfaction of a job
well done and you won’t need to compare
yourself to anyone
else I like the Amplified Bible that
says each one must carefully scrutinize
his own work examining his actions
attitudes and behavior and then he can
have the personal satisfaction and inner
Joy of doing something commendable
without comparing himself to
another do you see this connection he’s
making here if you’ll focus on your work
your assignment what God’s called you to
do he said there will be a joy that
comes as a result of that and you’ll
have an inner joy and the sad
satisfaction I like this phrase of a job
well done does that make you think of
something Jesus
said he told a parable and he said there
was a man who was going on a long
journey but he gave talents to one he
gave five to another he gave two and to
another he gave one and then he went on
a long journey and that long journey
represents time which represents
opportunity he’s given you and I a
window of time and an opportunity to do
something with what he’s given us so the
guy who had been given five what did he
do he went and traded and he gained five
more the guy who’d been given two he
went and traded and he gained two more
but the guy who’d been given one what
did he do
nothing big fat nothing he dug a hole in
the ground put that chunk of change in
the ground covered the hole back up and
and did nothing and after a long time
Jesus said that Lord came home and he
began to settle accounts and the one to
whom he’d given five came and said Lord
you gave me five I traded with them I
gave you five I’ve now got five more and
what did his master say to him
well
done it’s finished that part is finished
well done now we’re talking about
finishing with joy right listen to what
he said well done good and faithful
servant you’ve been faithful with a few
things you finish that now I’m going to
make you ruler over many things because
you finished there’s
more glory to God because you finished
there’s more but then what did he say
enter into
the oh come on enter into the the joy
of your
lord what did Jesus say my joy will
remain in you enter into my joy he said
do you see the joy and the satisfaction
that comes when you finish the
satisfaction of a job well done I did
what he asked me to do how and when and
where that’s
faithfulness he said the same thing to
the one he’d given too well done good
and faithful servant you’ve been
Faithful over a few things I’ll make you
ruler over many enter thou into the joy
of your
lord I think somewhere along the line we
thought those words well done were the
were only reserved for what we’d
hear in
eternity do you know you can hear well
done next
Tuesday you can hear well done a week
from now a month from now every time you
set yourself in faith to do what God
called you to do and you finish this
part of it he says well done now I got
something else well done here’s
something else well done good and
faithful servant you ready for what’s
next yes and the joy comes with it well
done I believe I have a word from the
Lord tonight about this ministry and
what we’re celebrating in this weekend
this ministry is not finished this part
is brother Andrew Miss Jamie I believe
the Lord would say to you tonight well
done
well
done good and faithful servant well
done and now here’s the open invitation
into his
joy to finish this thing with joy and
take a step into the next isn’t that
what he said you’ve been faithful with
this now I’m going to make you ruler
over
this now you don’t want to be that last
guy and he
came and he started with the
excuses what did he
say Lord I knew you to be a hard
man um I don’t recommend
that you go into the meeting blaming the
owner I don’t recommend that I knew you
to be a hard man and I was afraid
here’s the
enemy always trying to keep you from
finishing through
fear through delaying putting it off
putting it
off there is such a thing as there’s
obedience there’s Disobedience and then
there’s what I call slow
obedience slow obedience well I’m not
disobeying I’m just going to do it later
but you know what I found out slow
obedience is really just
Disobedience you don’t want to be this
guy through fear didn’t do anything with
what the lord gave him to
do the problem is if you don’t step out
and do it you’ll never experience the
joy of
finishing if fear is keeping you locked
up and you refuse to take that that step
of faith you’ll never experience the joy
of something coming to completion you’ll
never experience the invitation of God
himself inviting you into his joy and
the satisfaction that only comes with
doing not your will but his and
finishing the work amen amen thank you
Lord thank you Lord
