hello and welcome to Kingdom connection
and I want to wish all of the wonderful
mothers a very very Happy Mother’s Day
this week we’re so thankful for you and
we treasure you I know my mom who is
still alive and still you know ministers
to so many people in our church she is
over our seniors in her
we call it the wisdom club in her
ministry and they are touching and
changing lives daily and I’m so proud of
her she’s 80 years old and she she works
circles around most of us for the Lord
and she raised me and my brothers and
sisters to do the same and what an
impact view wonderful mothers are having
on your families that’s what my message
is going to talk about today I believe
you’re really going to be blessed even
the guys will find this an interesting
story because this one right out of the
Old Testament about wise women and what
they did and it’s one of the most
unusual stories in the Old Testament I
want you to hear this story
I want you to lean in because I believe
God is going to speak to you as you hear
this message today let’s go right into
the service wise women I want you to
open your Bible with me to the book of
2nd Samuel chapter 20 second Samuel
chapter 20 verse 1 of second Samuel 20
there happened to be there a rebel
everybody say he was a rebel and a rebel
was full of rebellion that’s where that
word comes from and his name was sheba
and then verse 3 david came to his house
at jerusalem the king took ten women his
concubines and he had left at the house
and put them in seclusion supported them
but did not go into them they were shut
up to the day of their death living in
widowhood I’ll explain that in a moment
but verse 16 is where I want to focus
now take your PIN out and underline some
things if you if you get a chance then a
wise woman cried out from the city hear
hear
please say to Joab come nearby that I
may speak to you when he had come near
to her the woman said are you Joab and
he answered I am then she said to him
hear the words of your maidservant and
he answered I am listening if you see a
man sitting
here you turn to Him and say finally a
man that will listen come on
verse 18 so she spoke saying there’s a
parable in these parts that says they
shall surely seek guidance a table
that’s the name of the city therein and
so they would in disputes verse 19 I am
among the peaceable and the faithful in
Israel you see to destroy a city and a
mother in Israel why would you swallow
up the inheritance of the Lord and Joab
answered and said far be it far be it
from me that I should swallow up or
destroy that is not so but a man from
the mountains of Ephraim Sheba the son
of Baraka by name has raised his hand
against the king against David deliver
him only and I will depart from the city
so the women said to Joab watch his head
we will throw it to you over the wall
tell you what these women didn’t play
around verse 22 then the woman in her
wisdom that same woman in her wisdom
went to all the people and they cut off
the head of sheba and threw it out to
joe ham and he blew a trumpet and
withdrew from the city every man to his
tent so Joab returned to the king of
Jerusalem the Bible said she was a wise
woman and I want you to see this story
because the Bible said that she saw her
City in crisis and when she saw the city
in crisis and Joab when David saw this
awful man named Sheba who is leading a
revolt he said to Joab his number-one
soldier into a bersia one of his mighty
men he said I want you to go and I want
you to kill him I want you to get rid of
him because this is David’s words he’s
more dangerous than Absalom ever was
wipe him out and so they chase him and
he runs into a city called Abel this man
named Sheba who is a rebel
and he goes into this city and amazingly
the people in the city embrace him and
give him refuge they shut up the city
they seal up the city they raise up the
walls lower the gates reinforce
everything and here comes Joab and his
mighty men and when they ask or want
that rebel that’s inside of that city
the people are not concerned and so Joab
takes battering rams the Bible said he
began to ram the walls and he began to
round the gates non-stop noise
twenty-four hours a day
these massive logs and their ramming the
gates day and night day and night put
yourself in the shoes of those
inhabitants of that city as the walls
are shaking as the ceiling in the homes
are shaking as they’re constantly at two
and three and five o’clock in the
morning hearing the battering rams and
they know that when those walls come
down and when those gates come down
there’s going to be death to their
families and death to the city and this
woman this wise woman saw what was going
on and nobody was addressing it and
nobody her family was in danger her city
was in danger her life was in danger
she said to herself if nobody’s gonna do
anything I’m gonna do something and the
Bible said that as they were attacking
the walls and as they were battering the
walls God’s people were under attack and
surrounded and against the home against
the family and some of you feel that way
today the battering rams of hail and
it’s not just one area but it’s multiple
areas and you feel surrounded and Hales
trying to destroy your family destroy
your home destroy your business destroy
everything when that happens you need to
be like this wise woman and ask why what
is the issue and so she decides that I’m
going to become responsible I’m sure
that there were judges there I’m sure in
a male-dominated society there were male
leaders who were supposed to take charge
I’m
where there was some elders who who were
supposed to sit at the gates and and
make decisions but they were not doing
it and so this woman this wise woman
said I’m going to be responsible if no
man will do it and nobody else will do
it I’m going to take responsibility I’m
not gonna let my family perish I’m not
gonna let my loved ones perish I’m not
gonna let my house and my city perish
I’m going to do something I’ll be a
responsible woman God give us
responsible women who will pray who will
fast who were worship who are tired of
waiting on everybody else to do it and
if you don’t have a man that’ll do it
you become a responsible woman and you
say I’ll do it and if you don’t have
someone who will do it for you you do it
for your family and you do it for
yourself we need women who will take
responsibility and she said she went
outside the gates of the city and she
said hear me Joanne notice her title she
gives herself
I am a mother in Israel she didn’t say
I’m a mother of my children she said I’m
a mother in Israel implying that I am
taking responsibility for my whole
nation I am taking responsibility for my
city I am taking responsibility for my
family I wish that there was a man who
would do it but since there is no man
stepping up I’m going to take the
responsibility and she said I’m a mother
in Israel I am concerned about my
children and my children’s children I’m
concerned about the battering rams that
are destroying the walls and destroying
the gates and destroying all that God
has blessed us with I am concerned I’m a
responsible woman she was she became
responsible secondly not only was she
responsible but she was respectful she
respected Joab and his authority she
spoke respectfully to him she spoke
respectfully about her dwelling place
about her city she goes out and she says
let me tell
you about the city you’re trying to
destroy let me tell you about what you
are wiping out with those battering rams
let me tell you what kind of place this
is she says there’s a parable a proverb
about the city that if you have
questions and you bring them to this
place it’s the end of the matter
you’ll never question again because this
is a place of answers this is a place
where people come confused and find
direction it’s a beautiful picture of a
woman defending her church when the
battering rams of hail are trying to
destroy the family in the home and the
nation it’s not a man but it’s a it’s a
mother I think we need to quit
minimizing our prayers and minimizing
who we are and what we’re called to do
and it was a mother in Israel who said
you know what my prayers can make a
difference in my intercession and she
said let me tell you Joab what you’re
trying to wipe out with those battering
rams this is a place where people come
and find answers the problem solver is
here the answers that people need it’s
here in this city the direction
marriages are being put back together
homes are being put back together
addictions are being broken in this
place and this is a place where we can
get answers and it’s a woman who says
not only am I responsible but I am
respectful I respect this place and I
respect leadership this woman was so
powerful because she said I am one of
them that are peaceable and faithful
it’s rare when you find a woman that is
not only faithful we we don’t have as
much problems with that I’m faithful to
pray faithful to go to church faithful
to love God faithful to serve God but
she’s not only faithful she’s peaceable
she has a peaceable spirit she is not
disturbed and she is not angry she’s
peaceable and she’s faithful the Bible
said that if you have a peaceful spirit
a soft answer can turn away wrath
the Bible said blessed are the
peacemakers not the troublemakers the
peacemakers and I tell you what Satan is
afraid of is women who are not only
faithful to God faithful to their
families faithful to their husbands
faithful to their children faithful to
what God has called them to do but
they’re peaceable they are a peacemaker
they have a peaceable spirit not a
troublemaking spirit a soft answer turns
away wrath peaceable and she said I’m
peaceable and I’m faithful and I’m
saying to you today that she was not
only a woman who who was responsible and
respectful boy I just think that’s such
a big point because it’s easy to lose
respect and when you lose respect
something lifts off of your life
especially to Authority when you lose
respect in your life
I thought about Sarah and the awesome
respect that she showed Abraham her
husband he was not a perfect man he was
full of flaws he lied and says she was
his sister and let the king take her and
she looked at him and and knew he was
lying and thought what a coward what a
liar you are and yet the Bible said
later she called him with so much
respect she had so much respect
she called him Lord not Lord Lord on
another occasion when his nephew lot was
kidnapped he got 318 men pulled out
swords and they went after and took him
from the kidnappers but when his own
wife don’t you know they had an argument
over that that good-for-nothing lot that
stole everything we have you go rescue
him but you let the king take me and
don’t raise a butter knife and lie and
say I’m your sister and I can and he can
have me
don’t you know there was an issue there
but she didn’t lose respect for him
she still called him Lord meaning an act
of respect
don’t lose respect for authority she was
a responsible woman she was a respectful
woman and thirdly and lastly she was a
ruthless woman the Bible said that she
said that Joab why are you destroying
the city and he said I don’t have a
problem with the city I don’t have a
problem with you I don’t have a problem
with your house I don’t have a problem
with your children I have a problem with
what you have allowed to take refuge in
your life you’ve allowed a rebel or
rebellion to come in and because you let
this rebellion come in we’re going to
tear down the whole city but we really
aren’t after the whole city we just want
that one rebel and him only and
sometimes you think when the Word of God
is being preached and when the preacher
is preaching and there’s something in
your life that you know is not pleasing
that God’s just coming to wipe you out
level you level everything to be he’s
not doing that he’s after that part of
your life that is in rebellion against
God’s Word and all God said all Joab
said to her he said hey said I’ll tell
you what he said if you will get that
guy that rebel named Sheba and and
you’ll turn him over to us then we won’t
have an issue and the battering rams
against your family against your home
against your marriage against everything
it’ll all stop this is all about there’s
something in you that shouldn’t be there
and it’s an act of rebellion that’s
going on and it’s time to deal with it
and I like her attitude because she got
ruthless she didn’t get squeamish she
didn’t get oh oh girly about it she goes
in and she says I’ll do I’ll tell you
what I’ll do
she said you wait out there and you look
up in the sky and when you see his head
come over the wall you
know that we’ve dealt with rebellion how
many of you know that’s a that’s a mean
woman right there come on she’s ruthless
she said I so won’t my home and family
to be blessed that anything that the
king the point is the king didn’t like
what was taking refuge in that city and
she said anything the king doesn’t want
in here I’m not gonna have sympathy for
sin I’m gonna throw its head over the
wall I’m gonna throw unforgiveness head
over the wall I want to throw addiction
over the wall I’m gonna throw this this
shame of the past and guilt and
captivity and bondage I’m gonna throw
rebellions head over the wall it’s
getting out of here you can’t have my
family you can’t have my home you can’t
have my children I’m gonna throw it over
the wall and the Bible said that she
went in and got the other girls and they
said let’s deal with this and the next
thing you knew Joab was out there and he
sees a head come over the wall and he
blows the trumpet and says thank you
very much problem solved the king is
well pleased with you you got his
blessing battering rams cease and I
guess what I’m trying to say to you is
simply this sometimes
God wants us to deal with things that
the king is not pleased with and the
reason the enemy has the right to bring
the battering rams and try to destroy
our families our walls our gates our
homes is because we are too easy on sin
there’s too much sympathy toward
iniquity too much sympathy toward
rebellion too much sympathy you got to
throw its head over you gotta throw it
over the wall you got to get it out of
your home get it out of your life you
got a
diction in your life throw it over the
wall quit having sympathy for the devil
in that sin in your home the lust of the
flesh the lust of the eyes the pride of
life throw it over the wall immorality
all the things that the enemy tries to
bring drunkenness and a drugs throw it
over the wall the battering rams will
stop your home can be blessed your home
can have peace your home can have joy
the favor of God can come upon your
dwelling place but you’ve got to take
the thing that that the Holy Spirit is
saying the king is not pleased with and
throw it over the wall the Bible said
there was a king named cesira he was
mean slaughtering people and he got
tired and he was running and hiding and
he came in the tent of a girl named Jael
this is in judges chapter 4 and he said
I’m coming in and I’m gonna rest here
and give me some food she said aren’t
you that king that’s causing yeah what
are you gonna do about it nothing she
fed him
she gave him a glass of milk the Bible
said fed him some food and she said why
don’t you lay down and take a nap I’ll
watch and let you know if anyone’s
approaching and cesira said that’s a
good idea
that’s about what you’re good for so you
do that you certainly aren’t a threat to
me and he laid down and went to sleep
and Jael took a tent peg and a hammer
and while he was snoring
she put now I’m not giving you a word
from the Lord if your husband’s getting
on your nerve
and clarify that she took the pen tag
pet peg and the hammer and she drove it
through his head
we need mothers in Israel who will keep
hammering in prayer hammering and
fasting hammering and saying you’re
getting out of my family you’re getting
out of my home I’m not gonna let drugs
win I’m not gonna let addiction win I’m
not gonna let unforgiveness win I’m not
gonna let hell tear my family all the
pieces through rebellion it’s going over
the wall and I have power and victory in
Jesus name and it wasn’t a mighty man it
was a woman a housewife a woman of God
you have authority women of God to get
ruthless with devils and demons and say
I will have no sympathy on division in
my family and in my home I can throw you
over the wall
what are you saying I’m saying to you
that captivity if your men or women in
captivity you can throw it over the wall
Ephesians four said Jesus led captivity
captive you can take your captivity
captive and you can throw its head over
the wall through Jesus Christ you can
say to addiction today get out I’m
throwing you over the wall you can say
to bitterness and offense and
unforgiveness get out strife contention
in the home get out I’m throwing you
over the wall because this is a place
where problems are solved the problem
solver is here you can you can destroy
the voice of intimidation this morning
you can throw the head of depression
over the wall and you can come up with
joy you can throw the head of fear over
the wall and you can walk and say I will
fear no evil for thou art with me you
can throw the head of discouragement I
know I’m preaching to some people who
need a miracle in their family today
the battering rams of hail can cease one
act of obedience when you say God I’m
coming to that order and I’m throwing it
over the wall get out of my house get
out of my family get out of my city the
battering rams of hail that have been
attacking your family can cease this
morning love can come answers can come
healing can come restoration can come
miracles can come to your house to your
marriage to your family does anybody
believe that God can change
well I hope today’s message has blessed
you on this Mother’s Day and I believe
that many of you are sensing that spirit
of victory that these wise women that I
preached about today showed us in
Scripture the pattern that God wants to
bless you and bless your house and I
thank God for the mighty women of God in
the body of Christ and in every home
don’t ever underestimate your prayers
don’t ever underestimate your amazing
influence over your family and lord I
just speak blessing today over those who
are watching this I pray for homes for
marriages for families I pray for single
mothers I pray for those who are
struggling today Lord who need your
resources and your help and your healing
yes your healing let it flow today and
let us see victory in every area of our
life we throw some things out of our
home and out of our life over the wall
and we praise you for that wisdom that
helps us to win we receive your power
now in every circumstance in Jesus name
Amen and amen
