different parts of the world but same
journey different circumstances but same
journey different past but same journey
different destiny but same journey and
what is that journey that journey is
choosing to activate everything that god
has placed down on the inside of us i am
so thankful for what we get to do here
each and every week through activate
whether it’s me or our incredible team
of speakers who come together one thing
is for sure
that when we think about activate we
literally lay you at the feet of jesus
and we say god who’s going to hear this
message who’s going to be connected to
this moment and how can we serve them
that’s exactly what we’ve done not just
through worship but now through the word

weird isolated strange times and some of

really have like-minded people in my
community i don’t have them in my family
i don’t have them at my school i wish i
could be around some like-minded people
who are on the same spiritual track that

man i prayed about this message and
in my mind it makes perfect sense
but i’m praying that god would make up
the difference between what i sense and
what he wants to speak
i’m going to be in genesis
chapter 29
my subject is blinded by
want
blinded by want
genesis 29 verse 21
if i can set this up for you
this is when jacob is trying to get his
wife
back then in the old days they didn’t
swipe left or swipe right
there were
family members and kinsmen who were
connected and when it was time for you
to find a wife they would say go to this
specific family member go to this
specific region and find a wife from
that area avoid this area jacob is on a
pursuit for his wife he’s at laban’s
house laban is his uncle
and he is there to
find his wife he finds a woman named
rachel he loves her from the moment that
he sees her she’s beautiful she’s
stunning he says i’ll work seven years
to get her and then when his seven years
are complete jacob said to laban give me
my wife
this is verse 21
for my days are fulfilled
that i may go into her
and laban gathered together all the men
of the place and made a feast
now it came to pass in the evening that
he took leah his daughter and brought
her to jacob and he went into her
and laban gave his main zilpah to his
daughter leah as a maid
so it came to pass in the morning that
behold it was leah
and he said to laban
what is this you have done to me
was it not for rachel that i served you
why then have you deceived me
and laban said it must not be done so in
our country to give the younger before
the firstborn
fulfill her week and we will give you
this one also for the service which you
will serve with me
still another seven years
blinded by one is my title
i want to talk about this moment where
jacob and laban end up
in this moment of deception
because i feel that as i was praying
that there’s something special that
happens here that’s going to bless us
especially as we set our intention so
god
this is your word
these are your people
and i am your servant
when we live in that consciousness
then there should be no room for nerves
there should be no room for anxiety
there should be no room for fear and yet
because i am also human all of those
things are here
and so father i pray that i would
decrease that you may increase
that you would remove from me anything
that would make this about me so that it
could be purely and distinctly you
working through me to reach your people
and god somewhere along the way
drop some crumbs from me
that i may eat and be edified as well
and together
together may we change the world
thank you god for this word thank you
for this atmosphere thank you for this
environment of change

i have been told that activate is a safe
place
and so i feel comfortable
sharing with you all one of my childhood
i don’t know if i should call it
tendencies problems issues but i’m going
to share them with you anyway because i
have been told everything is safe here
if this is a safe place can you please

place and i feel you i get you because
how could anything on the internet be
safe but i’m going to go with the fact
that i’m leaning into it being a safe
place when i was young
like too old but young
i used to carry around sweetened
kool-aid with me
not because i was ready to have a party
at any given moment and i wanted to be
the person who brought the kool-aid but
because i used to take my finger which
it really sounds gross now in the days
of covet and maybe it was a gross thin
but stick with me i’m going to bless you
i used to take my finger and stick it in
the sweetened kool-aid and lick my
finger literally my finger would be red
for me looking kool-aid
i don’t know why i had this issue it was
an addiction for a long time but i used
to do it all the time i know that i am
not the only person who used to eat
kool-aid
the only thing about this sweetened
kool-aid and it wasn’t new it’s just the
moment that i don’t know if somebody
spilled it on the counter and i picked
it i don’t know how this thing started
but all i know is that that sweetened
kool-aid in particular used to be my jam
now for some reason that same sweetened
kool-aid that i could lick with my
finger
a different pack not the same pack was
not sweet enough for us to actually make
kool-aid with everybody has that one
aunt who takes the kool-aid that’s
already sweetened and then dumps about
half a bag of sugar in it to make sure
that it reaches its peak sweetness
it was crazy to me that though the
finished product was supposed to be just
ready to go
that there was still this additional
effort that went into taking a finished
product and basically turning it into a
project
if you’ve been listening to pt’s message
then you know that that’s already
sounding familiar because pt said
something so amazing on sunday when he
started speaking about the conversation
that we have with ourselves
and he said that we are not god’s
project
we are god’s product if you quote that
quote pt i did not say that
pt said that we are god’s product not
god’s project
he said so many powerful things in that
message but that stood out in my mind
because i often see myself as god’s
project
as if that finished product that he put
in his in my mother’s womb on july 17th
was almost there but it still needed a
little extra
here i am walking around like a project
when god really said if you could grab
the consciousness that you are already
complete then you wouldn’t walk around
waiting for someone or something to
fulfill you
when we were created
in genesis the story of creation tells
us that we were created with what
psychologists would consider a
prevention loss mindset
prevention loss prevention
focused means
that it involves the motivation to avoid
loss
so it’s prevention focused and that
involves the motivation to avoid loss
with emphasis on obligations and
responsibilities and a preference for
avoidant strategies
now that is nowhere in genesis i’m just
taking what it means to have a
prevention focus and aligning it with
what scripture tells us in genesis 1.
every time god created something he said
it’s good he created the heavens and the
earth and it was good he created the sun
and the moon and it was good he created
the fish in the sea and the birds in the
air and it was good he gave humanity
everything that he created and he said
it was good which means that when god
gave earth to humanity that it means
that it lacked nothing
our only responsibility as humankind was
to make sure that we didn’t lose what
god gave us
god gave us a manual and he says if you
follow by these instructions if you
follow about the system that i already
have set in place then you don’t have to
worry about gaining anything your only
focus now has to be on not losing what i
gave you
no wonder
when the serpent comes in genesis 3
he’s trying to shift them out of the
mindset that they have everything they
need
that is the ultimate deception that the
enemy plays on us
we have experiences in our lives that
make us feel like we’ve lost something
and when you feel like you’ve lost
something the only thing you can think
about is how can i gain whether it’s
consciously or subconsciously we walk
around with the deficit mentality
thinking to ourselves because i am at a
deficit i now need to gain in order to
get back to a place where i have lost
nothing
but the truth is that if we really
believe scripture if we really believe
that we were created by god if we truly
believe that god knows our in from our
beginning that means that even when it
looks like we’ve lost we didn’t really
lose because god had already taken that
into account when he created us that
means that no matter what you have gone
through whatever your mistakes are
whatever your past memories are that are
haunting you and taunting you you think
that it puts you at a deficit and god
says you can’t change something that has
already been summarized that i already
knew that about you and i created you
anyway i already knew that you were
facing that and i created you anyway
when i set your price nothing you went
through can change your price and now
it’s on you to truly believe that i
still call you worthy that i still call
you valuable that i still believe that
you deserve access to my knowledge that
i still believe that you deserve access
to my spirit to my plans for your life
to the real deal love to the real deal
purpose that you don’t have to pretend
that you can be authentic in who you are
because i created you authentically and
i don’t need you to pretend when god
created us we lacked nothing
the enemy
tricked humanity
into believing that you almost have it
all but you’re missing something
how many of you
have had those same thoughts in your
mind
i almost have it all
but i can’t get this addiction under
control i almost have it all but i just
can’t get myself to really live a life
of integrity i almost have it all but
for some reason i can’t convince myself
to speak up i almost have it all but i’m
still missing a little something and so
we went from being prevention focused
to promotion focused
let’s
read that definition
to be promotion focused
it involves the motivation to achieve
gains with emphasis on aspirations and
ideals and a preference for eager slash
approach strategies
that means that we went from living with
the consciousness that i don’t have
anything to gain i just need to make
sure that i don’t lose what i have
to this idea that all i need to do is
gain and gain and gain and gain
we see it in social media
we see it in careers we see it in
corporations we see it in non-profits
that we’re constantly focused on the
next gain
and when you’re constantly focused on
the next gain you can end up in a
circumstance where i
consider it blinded by want
blinded by want
that is what happens to us when we are
consumed by the idea that i need to gain
that i don’t have enough or that even
though i accomplish this this is a new
day and i’m starting at ground zero i
want us to really not to to go to war
and demystify this idea that i’m
starting at ground zero every time that
i wake up if you’re starting at ground
zero every time that you wake up that
means no matter what you achieve you’re
going to tear it down because you don’t
believe that it is sustainable when in
reality what we’re doing is building
upon what has already been said in
motion that’s why in genesis when god
hands the earth over to humanity he
doesn’t tell them you have to build
anything he says just maintain the thing
that i gave you build on this i don’t
know who you are but i feel like god is
telling you that you don’t have to start
over again that you can just build from
where you were and i know it doesn’t
look like you have enough to work with
and i know it may appear that you’re
down to rubble but i hear god saying
that if you would trust that what
happened yesterday is enough to create
with today then you would start building
in spite of the mistakes that you would
start building on top of broken glass
who are you i hear god saying that this
is the year for you to build with broken
pieces that this is the year for you to
build with what you have left there’s
nothing wrong with you starting with
where you are now and if you’re waiting
for the time to come where you’ve got
everything aligned then you won’t build
anything at all but if you would dare to
believe that even with my broken pieces
i’ve got nothing to lose that even with
my broken pieces i’ve got everything
that i need that even with my broken
pieces god can still build a monument
with my life the only thing you’ll be
worried about gaining is how can i get
back to the consciousness that i’ve got
nothing to lose that i’ve got everything
that i need that god has already
equipped me and empowered me to show up
in the life that i am in god i don’t
want to be pursuing what the world says
i should pursue i don’t want to be
pursuing what man says i should pursue i
don’t need another degree i don’t need
another relationship i don’t need
anything else to make me feel better
about myself all i need is to have the
consciousness that you’ve given me
everything that i need and that if i
would hold on to it and honor it
and see it the way that you see it
i would not be seduced by gain
because when i am seduced by gain i
diminish what you’ve done in my life
when i am seduced by gain i diminish
what you’ve already completed down on
the inside of me god help me to be
content and complacent with who i am let
me max out my potential here without
dipping into something i’m not even
prepared for
that is what it means
to live in such a way where you say i
don’t want to
i don’t want to lose this
god you’ve given me wisdom that i can’t
take away god i don’t want to lose this
you’ve given me a consciousness that
changed the way that i show up in the
world god i don’t even know if i can
handle anything else because i don’t
want to lose what you’ve given me i
don’t want anything to take my focus off
of what you’ve already given me there’s
somebody watching this and you haven’t
even fully cultivated what god has given
you and yet you’re still seduced by gain
and i want you to dare to break up with
the idea that there’s something more and
say god what is this that you’ve given
me here i want to max this out here
because when i max this out here i don’t
even have to worry about gain i’m so in
love with what i have here
that i see it as gain
this is how we end up
so easily distracted in relationships so
easily distracted in our careers and our
purpose
because anytime we see someone moving
quicker than we are anytime we see
someone promoting faster than we are we
start to think there’s something wrong
with what i have
but if we really trust god
then we would trust
that all i need to do is maintain what
god has given me
because to be promotion focused it does
give you gain
the scripture tells us what does it
profit a man to gain the world and lose
his soul you can be promotion focused
and receive gain
but the only thing about receiving gain
is that you don’t always gain the things
that you want
the truth is
that along the way we end up gaining
some things that we don’t want
you know what i’m talking about when i
say the unwanted gains
these are the gains that no one talks
about
sometimes we’re so blinded by what we
want
that we miss out on the unwanted things
that have invaded our desires
that means that we may be
moving along with a career and we may be
progressing and we’re finally making the
money and we’re finally getting their
relationships and we’re finally
positioned in the way that we always
thought that we should be but if we’re
honest there were some unwanted gains
too like i don’t really feel connected
with god anymore
or the unwanted gains of i don’t even
remember why i started this in the first
place yes i am gaining yes i am
promoting but there are some unwanted
gains along the way that i feel insecure
there are some unwanted gains that i
have to lie in order to keep everything
moving because i don’t want to
disappoint people while i’m also
pursuing my career there are some
unwanted gains that we don’t speak about
when i was looking at this text
i recognized that
jacob was all for working those seven
years
as long as it led to gain
but he was not prepared for the unwanted
gains along the way
i want to talk to some real people
who are looking to get to a place where
they are finally moving and progressing
in life and i want you to know that the
cost of progression is not just the
gains that you wanted they’re also the
gains that you don’t want
like i pulled into this one environment
at the expense of not being able to
connect with the friends that i once had
the unwanted gains of i finally got my
spirit right
but now i don’t have anyone to talk to
the unwanted gains that come with
progress are the ones that are rarely
discussed and yet this text demonstrates
for us
that you need
both gains and unwanted gains
for the fulfillment of god’s plan
in genesis in 20 in genesis 28 before we
find jacob in this text he’s on his way
to the comb of where laban lives
and on his way he stumbles across a
place called bethel
many of you have heard this but if you
haven’t this is the place where jacob
lays down and he sees angels ascending
and descending from heaven
and he makes a promise to god there that
because this is the place that god has
met him that he’s going to serve him and
god says to him i’m going to multiply
your generations
i’m going to allow your seed to be
spread i think it was just as many
pieces of sand there are so will there
be your seed you’re going to have
multiplication connected to the thing
that you’re headed towards
jacob is headed to get a wife and god is
letting him know in advance this is
going to be fruitful
jacob is headed to the very union that
will allow for him to multiply and god
wants him to know in advance before he
even steps foot in the territory that
this is going to be able this is going
to multiply you this is going to spread
your name there’s going to be
descendants connected to this moment and
yet when jacob is actually standing in
the moment god lets us into the fact
that there’s going to be an x factor i
feel my help coming
and that x factor is that in order for
you to have the fulfillment of what i
said the fulfillment of you having
descendants the fulfillment of you
having your seed scattered just as the
saying that fulfillment is not just
going to be connected to you pursuing
what you want it’s also going to be
connected to how you handle the things
that you don’t want you see it is the
unwanted things in life that really
produce the increase it is the unwanted
things in life that really produce the
oil the creativity the passion and the
purpose but sometimes we are so blinded
by want that we miss out on the thing
that god is actually going to use are
the things that we didn’t want at all i
wish that i had about 10 people who
would recognize with me and take a
minute to testify about the moments in
their life where the things that they
did not want added up into the
fulfillment of what god said they would
be that there are some people who are
connected to this message right now and
you know more than anyone that it is not
the things that i wanted that made me
who i am it is the things that i did not
want that put me in position if you
don’t believe me let me take you back to
the cross well right before jesus got on
the cross he was in the garden and he
said to god i don’t want this cup this
cup is an unwanted gain i don’t mind
performing the miracles i don’t mind
showing up and healing the sick but the
very thing that i do not want is the
very reason that i was sent and god
didn’t take the cup from him because god
understood the power of the unwanted
things in life who are you you’re going
through a circumstance right now and
it’s nothing you want to deal with i
don’t know how to raise this child i
don’t know how to show up in this job i
don’t want this feeling of insecurity i
don’t want to have to face my past but i
hear god saying until you face off with
the unwanted things that the wanted
things will never be exactly what you
wanted because it is the things that we
did not want that allow us to savor the
things that we do want and when we take
in the inventory of our lives we will
recognize
that the unwanted and the wanted were
dancing together the unwanted and the
wanted we’re creating our oil the
unwanted and the wanted we’re creating
our work ethic you see the star you see
the shine but you don’t see the coal
that produced the fire in the first
place it was the things that i didn’t
wanted that made me show up for work
anyway it was the things that i didn’t
want it that showed me how to stick it
out in a relationship it was the things
that i didn’t wanted that made me the
husband that i am that made me the
father that i am the wife that i am the
mother that i am because i wanted my
father but i didn’t get them i show up
in this relationship differently because
of the unwanted things
the unwanted things
define us
more than the things that we wanted
the things that we want are just cherry
on top
but it is the unwanted
that really produce
who we are in god
and you have a decision to make
that i’m not going to be so blinded by
what i want
that i miss out on the fact that i’ve
gotta wrestle with what i don’t want
you gotta roll up your sleeves and
wrestle with what you don’t want
you gotta willing to go head to head
with what you don’t want
god i don’t want this addiction but i
can’t ignore it you see most of us
ignore the things we don’t want and
that’s why they end up having power over
us anyway but it takes someone with real
intentionality and focus to say i don’t
want it but i’m gonna take care of it
anyway i don’t want it but i’m gonna
wrestle it down to the ground anyway i
don’t wanna have to deal with this
cancer but i’m gonna stand up to it i
don’t wanna have to deal with this
disease but i’m gonna stand up to it i
don’t want to have to go to this
counseling but i’m going to do it anyway
if you only do what you want to do
you’ll never be who you could be because
you never learned to do the things that
you didn’t want but if you ever learn to
do the things that you didn’t want then
you wouldn’t be scared when trouble
comes your way you wouldn’t be scared
when resistance comes your way because
you know how to get your hands dirty i
wish i could talk to somebody in this
room who didn’t mind getting their hands
dirty no i don’t want to have to face it
but facing it is the only way to go
through it and because i will not stay
stagnant when god has got a promise on
the other side of it i’m going to do
everything it takes to make sure that i
can climb over this thing i’ll go under
it if i have to i’ll run right through
it if necessary but at the end of the
day i’m not going to let the unwanted
keep me from becoming
we become because of the unwanted
and poor little leah in this text
the one that jacob doesn’t want
is the one who was going to produce more
seed for him than rachel
i was studying this message
and i was thinking of
the times and seasons that we’re in
and how if we’re really going to be
who god has called us to be
and if we’re really going to stand up
in this world in the way that we need to
stand up in this world
that many of us are going to have to not
just come out of our comfort zone
because we lure people out of their
comfort zone with the promise of gain
we lure people out of their comfort zone
with the promise of promotion
but if we’re really going to be lured
out of our comfort zone we have to do it
with the knowledge that i’m going to
have to do some unwanted things i’m
going to have to handle some unwanted
goals some unwanted
character traits that are down on the
inside of me that need to be cured i’m
going to have to confront the unwanted
that is what jacob does in this every in
this relationship
because in order for him to get the very
thing that he wants
he’s got to first
keep
and handle
and protect
and nurture
the very thing that he did not want
i was studying this message and
wondering to myself what does this
reveal to me about the character of god
and what it showed me is that god often
uses the very thing that we do want as
bait
but it’s only bait to get us to the to
the unwanted to deal with the unwanted
things
you know i’m going to say it i wish i
could say it the way that i feel and i’m
going to say it the way that i wrote
down wrote it down
what you want
and don’t want have to live together if
you’re going to experience the fullness
of god’s promise
felt like this was something worthy of
us discussing it activate
because the idea and consciousness of
activating the unwanted instead of
separating it
is something that many of us don’t have
the tools to do
so many of us feel like if i ignore the
things that i don’t want and only focus
on what i do want
then hopefully what i want will help me
to accomplish the goal it’ll help me to
fulfill the promise but if jacob would
have only focused on rachel he would
have never produced the mini seed
connected to leah
that means that we have to find a way to
take the things that we don’t want and
combine them with the things that we do
want i don’t want to have to stay in but
i also want to save money i don’t want
to have to cut off my all of my
friendships but i do want to create
security in my relationship i don’t want
to have to show up on time every single
day working for someone else but i do
want to save up for my next business
there are so many things that we don’t
want that we have to handle if we’re
going to really lay hold of the promise
connected to our name
god fulfilled his promise to jacob
through what he didn’t want let’s take
some inventory of our own lives for a
moment
when you look at your life
and you consider not just your goals and
your dreams and your desires
those we can usually rattle off a bit
easier
what are you doing about the things that
you don’t want
jacob has to not be blinded by one and
you too are going to have to make a
decision to not be blinded by want
and because we’re going to confront
those unwanted things that’s one of the
commitments that i’m making to myself in
2022 is god i want you to help me
navigate the unwanted additions
that i have experienced in my life
i was speaking to my therapist
and i’m going to tell you all a
discovery that we had i was speaking to
my therapist last week and when i was
talking to my therapist i was telling
her how sometimes i feel so confident
and bold when i’m speaking but then i
get off and i feel so nervous and afraid
and shaken and i don’t know that i could
ever do it again and then i come back on
activate every week because i’m just
like all right lord i’m going to do what
you tell me to do but i wish that there
was a way that i could feel that
confidence every single time
and do you know that she told me that
part of the reason why i was struggling
with my confidence outside of the moment
when i’m just locked in and i have
decreased and god has increased it’s
because when i was confident as a little
girl i ended up in trouble and now i
don’t trust my own confidence which
means that i am walking around with
something that is an unwanted character
trait because of a trauma that i
experienced and i want you to know that
somewhere along the way that many of us
pick up unwanted character traits
unwanted personality traits that we
picked up along the way because trauma
dropped it off but i came here to tell
you tonight that just because trauma
dropped it off it doesn’t mean that it
gets to stay that you have to make a
decision down in your soul that i don’t
know who gave me this unwanted character
trait but because i know that it did not
come to god i’m going to confront it not
so that i could necessarily learn to
live with it but i’m going to confront
it so i can understand how it changed me
and i can put it where it needs to be
and that is back in the pit of hell
where it came from there’s somebody
watching this and i want you to know
that who you are right now was not who
you are supposed to be that just like me
you’ve been showing up as a summary of
the trauma that you experienced the
heartbreak that you went through and i
want you to understand that it is time
for you to no longer keep showing up in
this way and to dare to walk boldly into
the identity of who god has called you
to be and just like jacob had to make a
decision that he was going to continue
to keep showing up in spite of what
happened that someone’s got to make a
decision on the other side of this
camera and that decision has got to be
that i don’t care what life has tried to
contort me into becoming that at the end
of the day i want to be so focused on
the promise of who god says i can be
that i am willing to confront those
things that are trying to define me as
anything other
than who god says i am
what did you pick up along the way that
doesn’t belong to you
what have you picked up along the way
that someone tricks you into believing
was yours
i don’t want to talk about the things
that you want tonight
i don’t want to talk about the goals and
the dreams that you have we’ll do that
next week
right now i want us to go head to head
with the things that have no business
being in your psyche the things that
have no business being in your spirit
and i want to rebuke it in the name of
jesus because it is rebuking you you
have to understand that for it to be
alive in your life means that it is
rebuking who god has called you to be
and if there is going to be a war then
you might as well let the greater is he
that is in you to go to war with that
thing that is rebuking your god-given
identity and you’ve got to start staying
back to it i rebuke you shame i rebuke
you defeat i rebuke you in security i
rebuke you because you are rebuking me
and i’m tired of crouching down and i’m
tired of pretending that i’m not who god
says i can be and i’m tired of
pretending that i’m this insecure and
i’m tired of pretending that i am what
happened to me when i am only who god
says i am and as long as you are being
rebuked
by those things
you can’t lay hold of the promise
man maybe that’s what god was trying to
say to me in my prayer time
when i was focusing on
the unwanted that we pick up along the
way
god wanted me to understand two things
is coming to me as i’m sharing with you
and that first thing is that you needed
that to happen
you needed to experience those unwanted
things that’s how my promise got in the
mix
that’s how my power got in the mix
that’s how my strength got in the mix
but you can’t allow yourself to stop
pursuing just because you got something
you didn’t want
what if jacob would have said i worked
seven years
and i’m just going to settle into this
unwanted thing
when god says you can have both
you just got to work just as hard on the
unwanted as you did on the thing that
you want
that is the message
as hard as you’re chasing after the
thing that you want
i want you to chase down those things
that you didn’t want and demand that the
oil and the anointing and the promise
connected to them
comes out of them
because you’ll never be fully you
without them
jacob who would become israel
he could never fully be who he was
unless he had both of those things
this is the time of the year where so
many of us think about what we want
exclusively
and as i was praying i really felt so
strongly god was telling me that if we
are only blinded by what we want that
will miss what god wants
because what god wants and what you want
may not be the same thing
but if you could live your life in such
a way that you don’t mind saying god
this is what i want
but i can also handle the things that i
didn’t want as well
that is integrity in our relationship
with god that is integrity in any
relationship
is when you say i don’t just want you
for what you have
i don’t just want you for what i want
but i want you for the things that i
didn’t want either
you ask any good parent who’s up with a
newborn baby in the middle of the night
yes they would rather be sleeping but
because of the commitment that they’ve
made they’re willing to take on what
they want and what they didn’t want at
the same time ask any married couple yes
you’re everything i want and you’re some
things that i didn’t want either but at
the end of the day i am so committed to
you that i even want the things that i
didn’t want that’s how important and
valuable you are to me that’s exactly
what god does when he sends us jesus he
says no i didn’t want you to break the
law no i wanted you to be in the garden
but i love you so much that i’ll take
what you want that i’ll take what i
wanted and what i didn’t want at the
same time
but can you do the same in this season
of your life
can you allow yourself to not just be
blinded by the idea that i want to do do
a good job that you miss out on
i’m going to have to be corrected
i’m going to have to be chastised i’m
going to have to be trained i’m going to
have to be conditioned i’m going to have
to get up early i’m going to have to
study harder
what are you going to do about the
things that you don’t want
i want to pray with you
i’m about to close but
i felt so strongly in my spirit
that god is calling
a select few
those who are willing to make a
sacrifice those who are willing to not
make it about themselves
to really
open up their minds
to open up their hearts oh i feel this
so strongly
god wants us to dare to believe
that we are stronger than we think
man you’re watching this and i think
this is the moment for you
you’ve been thinking to yourself
that i only have enough strength and
creativity and passion
for the things that i want
as a matter of fact you’ve been thinking
to yourself that if i waste momentum
and time and energy and vulnerability
on that unwanted thing
then it’ll keep me from maximizing the
thing that i do want
and i hear god saying that the only way
you maximize what you do want
is by honoring that unwanted thing
you may have to restructure your life
you may have to change your timeline
literally jacob was supposed to go home
after seven years but because he now has
an unwanted and unwanted thing living
together he has to readjust his timeline
before he can move at the pace that he
wants to move in
but just because his pace was changed it
didn’t move his destiny
god knew before he even stepped foot in
laban’s home
that his timeline was going to be
extended
that he was going to get some things
that he didn’t want along the way god
knew that about you too
god knew that when you were dreaming as
a little child
that you were going to drop out of
school
that you weren’t going to get the
scholarship
that your parent was going to die that
your friends weren’t going to be there
that you were going to make it to this
city and then lose the job god knew
before he even allowed that to happen to
you
and yet god still made a promise
the promise isn’t necessarily that
you’re going to get everything you want
but whether it’s what you want
or don’t want
i’ll be with you
and when god is with you
he makes all things work together
for your good
what’s in that all
the all is the wanted and the unwanted
i can make it all work together for you
good
i don’t want to ask for help
i want to do it on my own
i don’t want to need anybody
i want to build this thing by myself
i don’t want to go to school i just want
to do the work i don’t want to do this i
just want to do that we live in a
generation that thinks you only have to
do what you want to do
and i can tell you
having became a mom at 13 i learned at a
very early age
that you don’t just get to do what you
want to do
that you have to do what you don’t want
to do
if you’re going to raise anything up
my friend
it’s time for you to do the things that
you don’t want to do
i don’t want to get up
and come to church i want to watch the
video when it’s released
but someone’s got a conviction that i
should get up and watch it when it airs
because that’s my way of showing god
that i’m serious about this thing
i don’t want to write the book i don’t
want to have the hard conversation

i don’t want to believe that this is my
life
but babe this is what you got

and if you only allow yourself to be
blinded by want
you’ll miss the beauty in the unwanted
i don’t want us to be so focused on the
pursuit
and the hustle
that we miss out on where the grind
really comes from
it’s in doing the things that we don’t
want
and i’m learning that for myself this
year
and i’m going to say this and then i’m
going to pray
who you become
when you do the things that you don’t
want to do
is more of a gift than what you get for
doing it
you become someone
who is not afraid of challenges
you become someone who doesn’t mind
having difficult conversations you
become someone who doesn’t mind
admitting when they’re wrong you become
someone who doesn’t mind asking for help
because i recognize
that the last time i did something i
didn’t want to do
i became better
i want to pray with you
i’m going to pray a crazy prayer
that we hardly ever pray in church
most of the time we pray that god would
maximize our wants that he would make
them clear that he would allow them to
show up in front of us
no i’m going to pray that god would
highlight the unwanted things in your
life
the unwanted character traits that
you’ve been walking around thinking that
they’re a part of your identity but the
truth is they’re not supposed to be
there
the unwanted conversations the unwanted
ways that you’ve been lying the unwanted
ways that you’ve been addicted the
unwanted ways that you can’t walk away
i’m gonna ask god to highlight those
because what is salvation if we have
nothing to be saved from
salvation
is when we say god here is my unwanted
and my wanted what can you do with
it and that’s where god gets all the
glory
god it is my prayer
that in some kind of crazy way that this
message has helped somebody
lord knows
that there are so many of us
learning to not just be blinded by what
we want
but to trust that we have the strength
and the perseverance
and the wisdom
and integrity
to also live in the unwanted
god i thank you for every person
watching
every story
every memory every drama god i thank you
for them
i thank you because i know that each
piece represents an opportunity for
glory
god i thank you that as they are
receiving this message that you were
highlighting areas in their life
where they have been ignoring the things
that they didn’t want
ignoring that family environment
ignoring those friendships ignoring that
business ignoring those disciplines or
lack thereof god i thank you that you’re
highlighting them not so that they can
feel shame
not so they can feel condemnation
but so that they can feel convicted
and through that conviction god you will
produce
change god i thank you that you’re
highlighting it so that you can give
them the strength to overcome it
so god i pray that you would meet each
and every person right where they are
meet them god in that space
where they’re living in
the memories
of how they became who they are
god allow your presence to meet with
them to sit with them and to guide them
and lead them with strategy
on how they learn to love every part of
who they are
how they learn to believe that they can
show up in every season and every stage
of their life god i thank you that
they’re not alone
holy spirit have your way in their heart
have your way in their mind
and we rebuke god bless you
we plead the blood of jesus over their
hearts
the blood of jesus over their body the
blood of jesus over their mind the blood
of jesus may the blood not just cover
them may it repel anything that is not
supposed to be connected to them may it
repel disease may it repel suicidal
thoughts may it repel depression the
blood god let it repel and let it rebuke
god let it send back anything that was
coming for them we send it back in the
name of jesus and we speak to who you
have called them to be we speak to their
divine identity and we decree and
declare that in the name of jesus no
weapon formed against who you have
created is going to prosper and because
the weapon has been formed but didn’t
prosper we say come forth we say come
forth from wherever you are come forth
from the east coast come forth from the
south come forth from the west coast
come forth from the north come forth
from africa come forth from the uk come
forth come forth come forth the real
identity we decree and declare it right
now in the name of jesus that we will no
longer be rebuked by what is trying to
shrink us but that we will still rise up
and rebuke it in return and when we
rebuke it may it be sent back to hell to
the lake of fire where it could never
come back again
god i thank you for fresh strength and
fresh fire
in jesus name i pray

and i see god pouring out his spirit god

where there’s a drought let it flow and
the places that i’ve ignored let it flow
god let your spirit touch down wherever
they’re watching god in their car in
their kitchen in their homes in their
bathroom god let it touch down in the
office let it touch down on the highway
and let it invade the entire home god
let it invade our entire circle till
generational curses are broken until we
have a generation that recognizes that
we can do all things we can do all
things we can do all things through
christ who strengthens us i don’t have
to be afraid anymore i don’t have to be
blinded by one anymore i can handle
seeing it all open up their eyes in the
name of jesus that they may behold all
of their experiences all of their life
and all of their destiny all of their
power all of their anointing all of
their confidence may we not just see
where we were hurt but may we also see
where we have been empowered god let us
take it all in and when it’s all said
and done may you get the glory
god we just worship you
