There was a time when Andrew had many of the same questions you do, but over the years, he found a better way to pray.
In A Better Way to Pray, Andrew dispels a lot of the myths that may have hindered the way you practice prayer, as well as many of the big issues you may have with it. I was seeing Kara students who had left
their homes left their jobs left their
Apartments left the Comforts that they
had to come here and serve God and they
weren’t living in a kingdom of God they
were living on the streets and in
Walmart in their cars I get calls every
day from around the world of people
saying hey I know God’s calling me to
come I’ve got to come and I’m trusting
God but I know housing is an issue there
by following God’s word to let down his
net Peter caught so many fish that his
vessel alone could not contain it
he needed more Sailors more boats and
stronger Nets just to stay afloat
as Fishers of Men We at Andrew Wommack
ministries and Karis Bible College have
a similar problem
we actually had
550 people who applied to be students
who didn’t show up and we called them up
and followed up to ask why they didn’t
come and 550 there was actually more
than that but 550 people said that the
number one thing that kept them from
being at Karis was lack of dorms lack of
accommodations with more students coming
out to Colorado than ever before and
less homes available in Woodland Park
Andrew has made his student housing
project a top priority but as he lays
the concrete and raises the walls the
Holy Spirit has brought along helpers
the pitch in with the catch Fishers of
Men like third year business school
graduate Michelle shaver who started the
Woodland Park Housing Ministry when she
noticed that many of our young students
couldn’t afford Colorado’s housing what
really struck home to me was our friend
Stuart who came from Massachusetts I had
been couch surfing
trusting God one place to the next I had
no plan B and I had two bags and two
hundred dollars I had a friend who just
dropped me at the Walmart it’s the only
place it’s 24 hours I stayed there
overnight I would sit I just sat on the
bench there in the foyer area where the
the heating ducts come down and make it
a little warmer I’d been trying to save
enough money trying to find a place but
the rent so expensive and it’s hard when
you come here with 200 I was talking to
God and just saying God how can this
can’t be your will because I know the
prosperity message of the Bible and I
know that God wants us all to be living
in the kingdom of God on this Earth
Michelle answered the call to start the
Woodland Park Housing Ministry a
non-profit that would buy homes in
Teller County and rent them exclusively
to our students for a fraction of the
market value but to purchase multiple
properties in the middle of a housing
boom Michelle needed money and lots of
it
God provided him the most unexpected
places we decided to have a Thanksgiving
party here we invited all our Charis
friends and I happened to invite my
sister and she decided to bring her
boyfriend the gentleman’s name was Alan
ramp report and he came to her dinner he
was at a older man in his 60s and not a
believer
and so he’s sitting here at this
Thanksgiving feast you know with all of
these Kara students talking about Jesus
and healing and all of these things that
he’s totally on
unaware of and Alan was listening to it
and he knew he was missing out on
something so as he’s listening he’s
thinking about his back his back issues
and you know had surgeries and still in
a lot of pain well after dinner everyone
was getting ready to leave
and Alan piped up and said
you said you were gonna pray for me for
my healing and they go oh yeah that’s
right let’s pray so they prayed for him
for his back
and they go stand up and walk around and
he stood up he goes oh my gosh my back
is so much better they prayed for him
and he was instantly healed in his back
you know running through the house and
just like wow I’m I am healed so right
there Alan gave his life to the Lord
the next day he asked Michelle if there
was something he could do to thank God
for for all that he’s done for him and
write the Holy Spirit popped into my
mind just ask Alan to buy homes so that
you can run him out to care as students
and he said I’ll do it they went and saw
homes that weekend and he bought three
homes that weekend and within two weeks
the homes were closing and we had him
full with care students she wanted me to
be the first person to be a tenant and
it was really a blessing it was a really
good rate for one something affordable
that I could pay it ended up being an
amazing house some amazing moments in
that place it was amazing amazing
amazing all in God’s time and God’s plan
as Allen bought properties Michelle’s
time and third year business school gave
her the knowledge and resources to
Steward this new ministry Faithfully the
third year Charis was so instrumental it
supercharged our ministry taught us how
to do ministry and business together
from the legal aspects the marketing
aspects the human resources on how to
hire people manage people hire
subcontractors the actual vision is to
break down the housing wall so that they
can go to Keras learn how to change the
world and then be sent out to the World
to Change the World equipped with the
education from Karis Michelle partnered
with fellow fisher of men and care a
student Sherry Blair who took on the
task of finding Kara students places to
live I feel for people who are coming
here out of obedience to God and so
excited to have their lives transformed
by the word and the great teaching up
here and be a part of what God’s doing
and and to be so overwhelmed by the
burden of not finding the right housing
opportunities if there is not enough
housing care students cannot come by
providing affordable rent to our
students countless more lives have
discovered their calling to Karis
we have assisted well over 300 most of
them are extremely grateful with the
country opening up after the pandemic
Allen has had to purchase another seven
properties for Sherry and Michelle to
manage but even that can’t handle the
load I kept a wait list and I would
check up and I had checked up and over
30 people had left Woodland Park and
returned home because they couldn’t find
a house people are coming here and they
don’t want to not start school
without housing but but they’re willing
to come and try and trust the Lord and
it’s just you know the need is so great
we’re just here to help them understand
that if God called you here he will find
a place don’t worry don’t leave let us
help you we will help you find a place
so that you can get over that wall or
break through that mountain so that you
can stay here and go to school
