break but you know what this proves to

of what God did for

stuff you need to leave the crowd behind
and you need to let go of some stuff

that I have not had to do in my life I
don’t make up sermons I’ve lived
them and I know I know that the word
works I know it because I’ve seen it
work in my life but I do know there will
be
waiting and there will be
testing and there will be doubts that
will
come and there will be feelings that
will make it rough but I also know that
I know that I know that you can do
whatever God tells you to do because he
is not going to tell you to do something
that you can’t

doubt some common fears we deal with
you’re going to like
this and some of them are probably
things you’ve never thought of you know
one of the fears we deal with is the
fear that we’re not going to get what we
want come on just just think about
it maybe somebody thinks you know you’re
single you think well I want to get
married and I just don’t think I can be
happy if I don’t
well then there’s other people that are
married and think I can’t be
happy all we really have to have to be
happy is
God now yeah some of the other stuff is
nice but you know here’s what happens
when you’re afraid that you’re not going
to get what you want you start taking
matters into your own
hands and boy that’s when the trouble
starts
oh I went around that mountain so many
years I was strong willed and
independent and
determined and if God wasn’t going to do
it I
would oh I was so
frustrated Lord I didn’t like stuff that
Dave did and I tried so hard to change
him and it just wouldn’t
work and I had a son that was just like
me and I did not like him and
I come on you can laugh at me you got
kids you don’t
like come
on and I didn’t realize he was strong
willed like me so our Wills were always
just button up against each
other and now he’s the head of our world
missions and every Mission thing that
we’ve done he’s had his hands on it some
way shape or Farm come on don’t write
your kids off too
early I’m afraid I won’t get what I want
well you know what if you don’t get it
you’re not supposed to have
it I mean if God can’t give it to you
youer can’t get
it come on Abraham and Sarah Sarah tried
that they got tired of waiting on God’s
promise and so they got a bright
idea I’m good at bright
ideas Sarah said I know what we’ll do
I’ll give you my handmaiden Hagar to be
your secondary wife now what kind of
stupid is
that nobody gives their husband another
woman and sure enough when she got
pregnant then she got an
attitude and and then Sarah blamed it on
Abraham oh there’s some funny stories in
the
Bible do you know that Jesus did not
want to go to the Cross you know
that you don’t have to want to do
everything that you do that’s
right I I did a message a couple weeks
ago called The Power of restraint and I
was talking about the restraint
that Jesus
used to stay Meek and
humble when he people would spit on him
and make fun of him
and when he was in The Garden of
Gethsemane and all those soldiers came
in to take him and old Peter you know
he’s pulls out his sword and whacks off
some guy’s
ear I guess Jesus had to pick it up and
put it back on his head I don’t know
but he said to Peter Peter what are you
doing don’t you know that if I wanted
to I could
call Legions of
angels Legions of angels there when you
multiply up was like 72,000 angels I
could call and my God would deliver
me and really it was God in Christ
reconciling us to him so it wasn’t even
just Jesus who who did this for us it
was God
himself who did this for
us how could you ever think that God
doesn’t love you for God so loved the
world that he sent his only
son to die for
you but the discipline the restraint the
humility that he showed and when he was
in The Garden of Gethsemane
praying he went off by himself not once
not twice but three times he prayed the
same prayer three
times father if possible take this cup
away from me nevertheless your will be
done and not
mine not once not twice three times he
prayed the same prayer I think he really
didn’t want to
do what he
did and I want to tell you we don’t have
to want to do everything God wants us to
do Hallelujah
when my parents got older and weren’t
really able to take care of themselves
properly God put it on my heart to move
them to our city to buy them a house and
to take care of them until they
died at first I rebuked it I thought
that’s the
devil you know what I thought there’s no
way God would ask me to do that well
you’d be surprised what he might ask you
to do
long story short and make a whole sermon
but it took three years but my dad got
saved I got to baptize him and he’s in
heaven today going
wo the same man who abused me and told
me I’d never amount to
anything oh our God is an awesome
God but but we have to do things his way
don’t be afraid you’re not going to get
what you want tell God I don’t want what
I want unless it’s what you want me to
have come on learn how to pray a little
different way stop spending all your
time trying to get God to give you what
you want delight yourself in the Lord
and He will give you the desires of your
heart
amen another fear we have is the fear of
failure which is the fear of
imperfection
oh we just want to look so good to
everybody you’re always going to make
mistakes
always and you have not failed until you
stopped
trying that’s what failure is you give
up and you quit you don’t try
anymore you will make
mistakes and you need to get kept
comfortable being imper
perfect this may sound nutty to you but
I remember years ago one time God said
to me I’m giving you permission to make
mistakes that didn’t mean he was
inviting me to sin but he was trying to
teach me I don’t expect you to be
perfect if I could be perfect I wouldn’t
need Jesus and neither would you why do
we put all this pressure on
ourselves you have Jesus because you
can’t do it all right you have Jesus you
have his name to pray in because you
don’t deserve the things that you ask
God to do for
you when we pray in jesus’ name the
Amplified Bible says we are presenting
to God all that Jesus
is oh that’s so
good I ask you to do this in Jesus name
now if it’s clear in the Bible that it’s
God’s will you don’t have to say if it
Be Your Will but but if if it’s not
clear well God I want to marry that
person you better say if it’s your
[Applause]
will cuz you may think you want to marry
them and really you
don’t Dave and I had five dates and got
married and I always say that he had to
marry me real quick before he found out
what he was
getting but I’ve been worth it haven’t I
been
he’s not talking up down
there oh we had some rough years in the
beginning we’ve been married three weeks
he looked at me one day and he said
what’s wrong with
you well I thought what was I thought
some everybody else had a problem I
thought if everybody else would just do
what I wanted them to do everything
wouldd be
okay
that’s why it’s so hilarious that God
called me to
preach get comfortable being
imperfect there was only one of the 12
disciples that got out of the
boat the other 11 were
afraid Peter eventually started to think
but at least he tried
at least he tried and I tell you what
God would rather that you try and fail
than not to try at
all did you hear me God would rather you
try and fail than not to try at
all but we’re so afraid that we’re going
to fail and somebody’s going to think
something which brings us
to another fear the fear of
man Lord have mercy you’ll never leave
the crowd behind if you’re afraid of
them Margaret Thatcher said if you set
out in life to be
liked you will be prepared to compromise
on anything at any time and you will
achieve
nothing I’m must I’m going to say that
again if your goal in life is to be
liked then you are prepared to
compromise on anything at any time
because that is the only way that
everybody’s going to like
you is if you’re willing to compromise
your moral values and come down to their
level well I’ve said for years that the
spelling of the word fear f a AR stands
for false evidence appearing real so the
key to facing fear is accepting the
truth about who you are in Christ and
confronting situations in in Truth and
Love Jinger is joining me today with
some of your questions on how to face
fear well fear is a big thing for a lot
of people it definitely is and it’s one
of those things that we we all deal with
yeah so it’s not something that there
should be shame connected to at all but
it’s so common because there are so many
things in our world now right that can
spark that fear and in our life so we
have some great questions good well
let’s have them okay okay this comes
from Karen in New York she says I wake
up in fear and worry every day I’ve
prayed for a healing I do the work but I
have to do it all day every day and I’m
exhausted when does it just kick in well
I believe that persistence is a key and
I I just she didn’t say that she does
this but it just came to my heart to
tell her not to say I’m
afraid I think a lot of times we’re
praying for something but then claiming
the opposite you know she may talk to
her friends about how much fear she has
or you know just so often we just talk
about how we feel almost stirring it up
yeah we talk about how we feel and you
know our words have power I don’t know
how much Karen knows about the power of
her words but in Proverbs 18:21 it says
the power of life and death is in the
tongue and we can speak life or we can
speak death and so it’s very important
to call things that be not as though
they were according to Romans chapter 4
we have we serve a God who calls things
that do not yet exist as if they already
existed so I just want to encourage her
she’s
praying that and you know you can’t just
pray that you’ll stop feeling afraid you
have to confront it and there may be
several things that she’ll have to
confront I grew up rooted in fear
because I was was always afraid of my
father who abused me and I had so much
fear in so many different areas and it
it wasn’t something that just went away
all at one time I had to confront
different things and my little phrase do
it afraid is a very key thing and as far
as that that feeling of fear sometimes
we just pay too much attention to the
way we feel so I would encourage her to
say I don’t care how I feel I will not
live in fear God has delivered me from
Fear yeah I think that’s so encouraging
because it is in the face of fear that
sometimes God really works and amazes us
yeah so it doesn’t mean when when you’re
talking about our our words having such
an important um weight to them and
speaking God’s word has such power that
comes as well it doesn’t mean that she
she has to lie to someone or anything
like that it’s not not being realistic
but it’s speaking the possibilities of
what what God is doing in well she can
even say you know I feel fear but I
don’t don’t live by I feel I believe
that God has delivered me from it and
not focusing on that feeling my feelings
are going to catch up with my decision I
love that I love that that’s so good
okay here’s another question from Keith
in Alabama I’ve been struggling lately
with my own death um like having a death
crisis it’s kept me awake and I have
really bad panic attacks worrying about
what comes after death I read the Bible
for answers but maybe I’m just not
looking in the right spot I just
wondered if you could give me some
advice or some
help well the Bible says to live as
Christ to die as gain and we really
don’t have to be afraid of death
actually there’s a scripture that says
that one of the reasons that Jesus died
was to Deliver Us from the fear year of
death I mean Heaven is going to be so
awesome No More Pain No More Tears no
more crying no more sorrow no more
sadness I you know I think
sometimes I wonder how what the
atmosphere of Heaven is going to feel
like oh yeah you know like I’m so
curious yeah I don’t think we realize
how much just there’s so much evil in
the world
and it if you you don’t have a strong
faith in God it can really pull you down
it can drag you down and you know even
just certain atmospheres that you get in
you can feel this just like I don’t like
this atmosphere but the atmosphere of
Heaven is going to be wonderful so I
don’t know if he has something wrong
with him that may be life-threatening or
if he’s just in general afraid of death
but you don’t have to fear it if you
have received Jesus Christ as your
savior
you are going to go to heaven and it’s
going to be an awesome Place much better
than being here yeah having that
confidence in Christ right and what he
says he will do he will do Katie from
Texas asks how do I overcome my
paralyzing fear of the end times I find
myself having no hope for the future not
wanting to have children and see no
point in doing anything in life if it’s
all going to come to a bad end well here
again that’s something that you don’t
have to be afraid of because number one
none of us knows for sure when Jesus is
coming back every
generation thought he was coming back in
their generation and he still hasn’t
come back yet we think it’s going to be
soon because a lot of the signs of the
end times have been fulfilled but if you
love God and you’ve received Christ as
your savior you don’t have to worry
about the end times first of all I
firmly believe that whatever happens
God’s going to take care of us and as
far as not having children or not living
your life Jesus said occupy until I come
or maybe Paul said it I don’t know but
the Bible says occupy until I come so we
need to just keep living Our
Lives as if we’re going to be around
here forever I always say we need to
spend our now time getting ready for our
their time and so just keep growing in
Christ keep loving him keep being a
blessing keep helping people don’t sit
around and think about the end times all
the time I don’t you know I hear people
say you know I don’t need the world’s so
bad today I don’t even know if I want to
have children well if you train your
children right they can go out into the
darkness and be a light and that’s what
we need we don’t need people that are
afraid to do anything we need to get out
in the midst of what’s going on and let
people see that there is an answer yeah
yeah that’s a great encouragement ment
okay here is a question um from SB hello
I have a 9-year-old daughter that is
having nightmares to the point she can’t
sleep alone for months now she’s so
afraid I’ve been praying for her we read
the Bible for kids before bed talk to
her about the fact that God is bigger
than any monster Etc and it seems that
nothing’s working right now what could
we do to help her how do we help our
children through fear well I don’t know
if they know what the root cause of the
problem is but that would be a good
thing to do would be try to find out
what got this started I mean is it just
an allout attack from the enemy or was
there something that caused it and
they’re doing what they should be doing
they’re praying and they’re trusting God
and I don’t know why sometimes things
take longer than they do at other times
but I think that we’re going to pray
with her right now and for her child and
we’re going to add our prayers to hers
and believe we’re going to see a victory
I love that so father we pray for what’s
her name SB we pray for S and her
daughter and we pray that you would
remove these nightmares and this fear
from her we add our faith to hers we
take authority over that fear we rebuke
it and we call her free in Jesus name
amen yes Lord and for all children out
there Lord all families who are dealing
with this we thank you for what you will
do right now in Jesus name am man I
think that’s a great answer that’s
really good okay this comes from Steph a
few months back I was recruited for an
amazing job opportunity I primarily work
with a team which is composed of men
I’ve been there for eight months now and
have experienced sexism like never
before I’m not sure how to deal with
this and whether to address it as I’m
fearful of U retaliation I’ve been
passive about this but as I’ve been
praying I believe that God will take
care of this and it due time however I
feel like I need to speak up but um so
she’s asking about the fear and what she
should do in the situation well the only
way you overcome fear is by confronting
it so she feels like she needs to speak
up and that’s what she’s going to have
to do because it’s probably not going to
stop until she does I just encourage her
to do it not in anger but to do it
firmly but in a spirit of love and pray
about the timing you know timing is
always important and pray for God to
prepare the people’s hearts before she
speaks to them you know she’s too
valuable to let somebody disrespect her
and a lot of times
bullies they really down deep want you
to stand up to them and they don’t
respect you if you don’t and they may
act like they don’t like it at first but
they’ll respect her later on if she does
does and if that particular person
doesn’t then she go to a higher
authority respect for herself yeah and
go to a higher authority yeah you know
and I mean if worse came to worse
absolutely I wouldn’t I wouldn’t stay
there if that’s the way I was going to
be treated and I couldn’t do anything
about it yeah that’s good okay well I’ve
got a couple more questions I don’t know
how much time fear questions that could
just go on and on but your answers have
been so good let me ask you one final
one this is from Nelda in Texas I’m so
afraid that I will sin against God the
thoughts just drop into my mind without
me wanting to wanting to think them and
then I’m terrified please help well pray
the Lord’s Prayer and actually believe
it when you pray it Our Father who is in
heaven Hallowed Be Your Name Your
Kingdom Come your will be done on Earth
as it is in heaven give us this day our
daily bread forgive us our trespasses as
we forgive those who trespass against us
lead us not into temptation but Deliver
Us from Evil so that is just all out the
devil being afraid that she’s going to
sin is actually going to open the door
for sin rather than keep it out and God
is a forgiving God he’s a merciful god
he knows your heart if you don’t want to
sin and you slip up and make a mistake
and you do just repent right away and
ask God to forgive you and if there’s
certain weaknesses that she deals with
with pray about those ahead of time that
God will strengthen her in those areas
but we need to have a reverential fear
of God but never a wrong fear of God
he’s a good father yeah thank you great
practical advice I appreciate that and
you have a book that is very helpful for
this too I have taught a message called
