Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it makes for a great explorer. From Christopher Columbus to Lewis and Clark and all the other explorers we learn about in history, they all had one thing in common … an insatiable curiosity. How about you? can turn a mere man into an icon
curiosity
it’s that essential trait that every
Explorer has people who discover new
things are fascinated with the discovery
of the unknown something in them says
there’s more something in them says that
I longed for something I don’t have
that’s how people who have changed the
world have changed the world because
they had a curiosity stirred up in their
heart his name was Christopher Columbus
and his discovery of the new world only
happened because of a tremendous
curiosity when everybody else said the
world was flat his theory was that it
was round and his theory meant was met
with cynicism his theory was met with
ill regard people laughed at him people
made fun of him because he believed that
there was more than what had been
discovered when Queen Isabella the queen
of Spain
commissioned him and gave him the money
and financed Christopher Columbus and
his screw in the journey that he would
take in his ship he set out on grand
ideas that there had to be more than
what he had experienced a paradigm shift
occurred in his own life and in the in
the crew that he had that would be
willing to risk everything to discover a
place they had never been before what
was amazing that when he discovered the
new world then suddenly it became
regular to go back and forth from Spain
to the new land that we now know as
America when he discovered the new world
he found their spices and silver and
gold and all the beauty of the America
shores but he was not satisfied with
discovering a whole new world something
in him yearned for more he would not sit
back long until he would set out on
another journey trying to find out
surely there’s places that I’ve never
been before but in that nation of Spain
the mystery of sailing began to
dissipate the sovereigns of Spain became
more interested in just going back and
forth to the place that they had been
before from Spain to America Shores
getting the riches and going back to
Spain from Spain back and forth what was
once thought impossible and non-existent
became a regular journey back and forth
in other words they were they were more
interested in settling than discovering
they just wanted to be regular they just
wanted to be average they just wanted to
be normal and I’m afraid that it’s
possible sometimes for us in our walk
with God at first we don’t even know the
spiritual world exists but if you’re not
careful that new world can just become a
regular journey of coming to church and
experiencing and picking up some silver
some golds and blessings from the
treasure house of the Word of God in the
house of God and going back and forth
back and forth to that same place never
realizing that God never intended for us
to stop discovering new places in him
that we have never ever known he doesn’t
want us to settle for colonization over
expiration spiritually speaking
something in US needs to yearn for more
something in US needs to hunger for more
something in us needs to be stirred up
to say god there’s got to be
more than just going and coming and
going and coming to a place called
Church occasionally there need to be
those moments in our walk with God where
we get desperate for a place we’ve never
been before
an experience we’ve never had before
because I want to tell you that it does
exist there is a new world spiritually
that exists for me and for you if we
won’t be settled and just be in a place
where we don’t hunger and yearn for more
you see I believe that when we get
interested in just settling we get
settled in our walk with God we settle
in the valley of the common we settle in
the plains of the plain Church doesn’t
have to be playing Church doesn’t have
to be coming are we living in common
times do we need more common services
with little talks where we just leave
and we come and we leave or do we
occasionally need to say God why don’t
you tear me up in this service God why
don’t you not get me excited but drive
me to my knees and brokenness and tears
until I press through and I get into
your presence where I desperately need
to be because it’s there that all that
we long for is waiting for you and
waiting for me lot set out and he’s
settled in the plane of Zoar the word
sore means little I’m afraid we settled
with little prayers and little worship
little change in little sermons and
little dedication and little devotion
I’m tired of little I’m tired of little
prayers and little services I’m ready
for God again to send a move of his
spirit starting with this pastor because
I’m in a place that I’ve never been this
way before and
fault hit me so strong if I’ve never
been to this place before maybe I need
to go in God to a place that I’ve never
been before because I need him like I
never needed him before how about you
are you facing things you’ve never faced
something tells me there’s more in God
because when we have greater need he has
greater grace come on and give Him
praise if there’s a yearning in your
heart for more we just want to camp here
don’t we we just want to get settled in
our walk with God we just want to get
saved and do the journey back and forth
back and forth back and forth but we
don’t go to any deeper in God any
mightier in the spirit any deeper in
worship any heavier in intercession and
there there is a place in God that is
beyond just the norm I’m telling you
it’s there I’ve been there the average
service rarely gets to a place where we
feel uncomfortable we like everything
comfortable and predictable Columbus
toward the later years of his life
listen this is amazing history records
record he would squint his eyes so much
looking for the new horizon he would get
out on the bow of the boat and he had
learned what only a few sailors know how
to navigate by the Sun and he would
squid his eyes so much that history
looking for a new horizon I know it’s
out there I don’t I know it’s out there
that he became blind
looking for the new horizon his eyes
were affected by navigating by the Sun
gazing that he did peering for the
unknown peering and longing where is it
where is it where is it I know it’s
there I know it’s there what if we came
to church like that what if we all got
that in our spirit tonight that we begin
squinting until we became blind
explorers he actually lost all of his
sight because he squinted his eyes so
much looking for new horizons staring
into the Sun day after day looking for
new place looking for something more
before discovering Santo Domingo
Christopher Columbus was blind yet his
instincts were so sharp
by previous voyages he was able to
follow the curved line only known by a
few navigators those eyes squinting
squinting looking the thought hit me do
I have eyes that are squinting looking
for the headwinds of the Holy Spirit to
carry me where others say don’t even
exist in the spirit
the church world in general says be
satisfied just to go to church and go
back home and go to church and go back
home and don’t get too spiritual because
you might get a little weird but maybe
there’s a place that they don’t even
know exist squinting looking I’m telling
you that we’re called to better than
average we’re called to better than
normal we’re called to more than regular
church and regular services we’ve
settled into the regular we’ve settled
into the average and God wants you to
see beyond the spiritual place that you
are
are your eyes growing tired for looking
from something new or do you just expect
nothing new spiritually to happen
anymore you’ve hit your highest place
you’re in the wrong church tonight
because I have come to afflict the
comfortable and comfort be afflicted by
telling you there’s another place
there’s a place where you can unload
your burdens there’s a place where there
is joy there’s a place where you can
pray and your spirit can be released and
you can leave this place saying I’m free
give the Lord a big praise if you
believe it come on here for more are we
as a church peering form or are we
satisfied as God brought us to this
place just to exist now and be satisfied
or should we spiritually be out on the
bow of this old ship peering with eyes
that have been enlightened with the
anointing and the vision of the Holy
Spirit seeing the harvest all around us
seeing souls everywhere around us saying
God thank you for all that you’ve done
but there’s more that we can do as your
people then that’s rise we’ll never get
you where vision from the Holy Spirit
will get you you see opportunities when
he enlightens your vision you have to
lose yourself to find yourself I want
you to take the spiritual context of
that for just a moment lose yourself and
realize we’ve got this moment and we own
it we can have as much of God as we want
we can be as powerful in God as we want
to be we need to lose ourself so that we
can find ourselves so that we can own
this moment the church should be having
its greatest hour now I need somebody to
stir up the fire in your soul to peer
out and see a new horizon turn to
somebody and say lose yourself we’ve
seen you we’re not impressed lose
yourself come on get out there where you
lose yourself lose your attitude and get
his attitude lose your habits and get
his holy habits lose your way and get
God’s Way lose your direction and find
God’s direction lose yourself Joshua the
son of nun her God in His Spirit say
today’s the day I know you’ve been going
in the wilderness for 40 years I know
you knew this land existed 40 years ago
and everybody else has died out but
Caleb in you but it’s time there’s more
how many of you believe there’s more
that God is a God of vastness that we
have not discovered the mighty great
powerful things that he wants to reveal
to his people he said in Joshua chapter
3 I want you to send the Ark of the
Covenant out that’s why you need to pray
for the leaders because he said send the
priests out first with the Ark of the
Covenant and when the soles of their
feet touched the wall
her the water will part pray for your
leaders because you’re not going
anywhere they don’t go so you don’t want
a pastor that’s just kind of laid-back
about ministry you don’t need a church
that just lets you grow religious fat
and sassy spiritually speaking you need
a church where Joshua turned and said
sanctify yourselves clean your act up
for tomorrow this time we’re going where
we have never gone before turn to
somebody and say your tomorrow can be
better than your today because there’s a
place you’ve never gone before waiting
for you the Bible said that he he set
out that’s blind exploring stepping off
of a bank of land up under your feet and
the Bible said the River swelled started
flooding that’s dangerous but he steps
out and when he steps out the water
parted I was reading today and one
writer said that the water did not part
all the way across the river until the
feet of the priest you know I thought it
the whole thing parted but he was saying
the guy had to the priest had to walk by
faith all the way across and when he
would it would stand up on both sides
but it was a continual walk of faith you
see I guess what I’m trying to say to
you tonight the simple little message is
there’s nothing wrong with settling
enjoying the blessing of God as long as
you continue to have in your spirit and
exploration
a blind a blind exploring spirit that
says wherever you lead me I will step
out and move in that direction in blind
faith if I hear your voice I have
nothing to do but move at your voice and
I may not know how or when but I’ll move
by faith and I’ve never been this way
before that’s what I love about
following God he doesn’t want it to get
boring and the thing that I’ve come by
tonight to say in this message is if you
will begin to long for the immensity of
our vast God if you will be willing to
leave the comforts of the settlement for
a new discovery of where God is even in
this place tonight you can go where
you’ve never gone spiritually before and
we could have a Holy Spirit revival
right here in this room that shakes me
and you to the core of our being and
don’t we need it when man said if you
want to build a ship don’t gather people
together to collect wood teach them to
long for the endless immensity of the
sea and then they’ll build a ship and
I’m saying to you it’s time to long for
more you won’t ever get more from God
until you hunger and you long and you
reach and you’re dissatisfied with where
you are am i preaching to anybody here
tonight that’s ready for a new I’ve
never been this way before
I am so glad you’re watching this
program we’re here because we want to
impact people with the truth of God’s
Word and I believe that we are in a
place that God is looking for leaders
and God is looking for men and women and
young people and college students and
teenagers that he can place his hand on
and raise them up and that they can go
where we have never gone before with the
gospel and with the truth and with the
plan and the purpose of God and his
church and I encourage you today just to
say Lord I’m available Lord I want those
laws of leadership and he’s taught me
today in my life I want to be fully
developed and I want to live a life on
purpose I want to see God do great
things with me beyond what I’m capable
of doing he really does want you to
think that way he really does want you
to dream that way and when you get Jesus
inside and he becomes your whole source
of life he will begin to take you places
you never dreamed you would go and you
will begin to see the plan of God in
your life and in powerful and unusual
ways and I’m believing for that today in
your life why don’t you ask the Lord if
you’ve never done it before to be your
Savior I know he loves you I know he
cares about you I know he knows
everything about you and he still loves
you and right there where you are just
say Lord Jesus just say it
Lord Jesus I surrender everything to you
I really need you I really need a reason
to get up and live my life on purpose
please take my life in Jesus name Amen
