In this Q&A video, Pastor Bill discusses the topic of developing a community of people with a similar heart and mindset within whatever community you are in.
this this individual just mentioned they
have a deep covenant relationships with
a church that
kind of has a no risk culture uh
they don’t don’t dream and there’s a
great deal of love and affection for
these people
but i i want to know how to balance
remaining and feeling alive in church
and uh
i don’t know i’ll start maybe you can
just jump off of some of these things
like
i do think with the with ibetheltv and
various you know
so much you can get so fed so powerfully
and profoundly
in a variety of aspects through
conferences and through various things
that it’s um it is conceivable that
sometimes the lord has somebody on
assignment
in a church and there they come as a
minister of the gospel
not as a receiver of the ministry of the
gospel yeah i’m not sure the spiritual
leadership always loves that you know if
they don’t like risks and you’re out
there
you know you’ve got your own prayer line
going that sort of thing
but there’s uh they would make for some
interesting conversations but there is a
way that you can actually get really
well fed
and still be in these places that you
feel called to and that’s true
maybe on assignment and if they could
change a perspective about what they’re
doing
we’ve always wanted folks to not come to
church just to be ministered to i mean
for a long time it’s been you come as
the ministry team
you come to get ready to be the ministry
team out there and
uh no that’s that’s right
we we don’t lack for opportunities to
keep fed
to keep encouraged yeah obviously what
they’re looking for
is a community of people that were run
together after this and looking for a
tribe yeah
yeah they’re looking for you know what i
tell our students
is i say listen some of you are going
back to places where
where they don’t they may not be as open
to
a lifestyle that we would live or pursue
yeah uh
don’t look to change the leadership
don’t look to to check because they’ll
prepare
them yeah it’ll put you in a
manipulative place too which isn’t
healthy
but do look for people with the same
heart and if you can just find the one
or two or the
five or whatever that you can you can
spend you know you have dinner together
you spend time you share stories
together you
you just it’s just that natural process
of encouragement
it becomes a huge part of life where you
just you start developing friends
yeah based on you know what we both said
yes
at a level that not everybody agrees
with but we’ve both said yes to the lord
on this level
and we’ll keep each other encouraged and
in a school setting of course i
i tell them listen develop maintain your
friendships that you have in the school
even though they live in another country
or another state
yes you know keep making the phone calls
do whatever you just
need to do to stay encouraged but as far
as developing the community
you know where there’s a tribe of people
pursuing
you know that that just takes time it’s
easier as a leader
because what i’ll do is i stand up and
i’ll throw out a message and i’ll look
for the three or four people that have
the fire in their eyes
and there’ll be maybe 500 people that
are like this but there’s a few that are
i can tell are responding
that’s where i’m going to pour the bulk
of my time it’s different when you’re
a sheep in that environment because you
don’t want to cause a revolt
you don’t want to cause uh we’re better
that or more spiritual then
you know you got to stay away from that
but you have to be true to what god’s
given you
and and you just you work to develop
those kinds of relationships there’s
people there
absolutely yeah there’s people there or
there’s people that want to
they just need you know they need the
testimony
sometimes your lifestyle of risk will
provoke me
to risk and uh so it just can’t be hid
oh absolutely no yeah just can’t be
flaunted yeah it can’t be hit can’t be
flaunted there yeah
you know i think partly too there’s
there’s lots of good to celebrate
in these environments as well and it’s
that whole thing of look what what god
is doing
what’s happening not just what’s not
there and um
you know it we struggle to have a real
pastoral environment
you know it’s like you know it’s you
can’t really get
counseling here we’re not we’re trying
to put together you know folks that are
in our environment like
they love the move the holy spirit but
the pastoral of attention or affection
we’re
we’re kind of trying to get that going
again so
yeah i think it’s also not realizing
that there aren’t perfect environments
out there at least that i’m aware of
yeah you’re right you’re right and you
might be getting a level of pastoral
care and spiritual attention that you
you’re taking for granted
it’s not everywhere and um and
celebrating what’s going on you know we
have
and the what the the move of god and
communities in our in our
school when i teach the bible stuff we
use textbooks from
dallas theological seminary you know uh
they’ve got some
um great things going on and and some of
their work you know and for me it
doesn’t tell us
it doesn’t tell the whole story but it
tells a part of the story
really really effectively yeah you know
and so really appreciative of what’s
going on there
and i i read i read other authors who
aren’t running and you know
christian authors who are profoundly
helpful to me exactly but aren’t
necessarily moving in supernatural and a
lifestyle supernatural and i’m i’m able
to kind of go okay you don’t
you’re not so enthusiastic about
miracles you have you have a wisdom
though in your approach to stuff
that gives you an automatic discernment
for
this won’t shape my life yeah because
because we we
don’t agree there it is i’m not giving
up this principle yeah it’s a bump in
the road for you where others go
oh yeah yeah so there has to be some
wisdom about you know what they’re
what they’re uh feeding on but but that
appreciation that celebration of what is
present in the environment yeah
that’s why we that’s why we can truly
honor every group of believers
yeah i mean that’s why we can truly
honor celebrate we can actually yeah not
just lip service
yeah that’s right yeah not yeah not just
the out front
yeah we love everybody yeah and then
behind the scenes you know
no that’s why we can do it public or
private yeah
yeah i like that
