you know Hebrews the third chapter is an
admonition from the very heart of God
to the house of Jesus he says take heed
learn from their failure exhort one
another daily
don’t depart from Faith like they did
don’t depart
no yeah I I’ve been thinking if if we
could somehow if we could take one of us
uh I don’t know if I want the job
but if it were possible just to think of
taking somebody from
this Century from the 1990s
and project you back in that time and
place
and and you’re there in the wilderness
now you dress this like they are and and
somehow you just get lost in the crowd
and they think you’re one of the uh
people that came with them out of Egypt
and you you get to the camp just as they
have come out of the uh Red Sea
experience and they’ve been dancing in
the tambourines have been playing and
they’ve been talking about how great God
was who’s like unto thee Oh Lord
glorious and Holiness fearful and praise
doing wonders thy right hand O Lord has
become glorious in power you will guide
us in your strength thou shall bring us
in and plant us the Lord shall reign
forever and ever glory be to his name
you’ve just heard them sing and dance
because it seemed Pharaoh in his armies
drowned in the sea they’ve seen this
great miracle
and now you followed them three days
later and there’s no water and they’re
at a place called Mara
and everybody is thirsty the children
are crying and the mothers are concerned
and the fathers are concerned because
there’s no there’s no water there’s no
sign of water there’s not a drop of
water anywhere
and suddenly someone comes running from
the edge of the camp and cries water
water and so you see the the husbands of
the wives getting their water pots and
running toward this little body of water
this little pond
everybody’s excited as if well maybe God
has answered prayer and you go along and
you get there and you hear an awful
commotion by the side of the water
because people men are spitting out the
water and women are spitting out the
water and now there’s an anger and some
are cursing
and saying you can’t drink it it’s
poisonous but there’s no touch it and
thirsty people can’t believe it so they
dip into the water taste it and
everybody’s spitting it out and
everybody is is complaining and they
send a delegation to the tent of Moses
and
the the word is incredible what this you
you already know the story but here you
are in this camp
you know the story you know the
faithfulness of God because you’re from
history
you can’t believe what they’re saying
tomorrow they’re ready to Stone him
they’re saying you’re a killer why would
God bring us out here and abandon us
why would God allow this to happen in
our lives doesn’t God care that our
children have no water that we are
we are going to literally starve to
death there’s no water Moses we thought
you had a backup plan you had no plan
you have no plan at all God has no plan
and
you stop a crowd and they said wait a
minute wait a minute
God just opened the Red Sea
you saw a miracle isn’t God able to do
it
